Whats with the confusion. The mk2 gte f20 box is geared up to do 132mph. The mk3 gsi f20 was a stronger box than the mk2 box and is geared to do 137mph. This is the box in cav/calibra/mk3 astera gsi.
Vauxhall name there gear box's f16 which means front wheel drve and the 16 refers to a tenth of the power the gear box can take
f16 - 160 bhp
f20 - 200 bhp
r23 - 230 bhp rear wheel drive from omega.
These figures above are from vauxhall
My 2.0 16 v corsa is blatently quicker to 60 than a type r civic. And that is in the sub 7's!

wrong. ITs the amount of torque they can handle, nothing to do with peak horse power. F16 can handle 160lb/ft torque max and still remain reliable

also, the F20 in the mk2 GTE is identical to all other F20 gearboxes, i have the F15 and with a 6500rpm redline, i can reach 135mph if the car had the power to get there. It all depends on the redline, rolling resistance, wind resistance and aerodynamics of the car.

In fact the redline in my Sport 1.6 is 2750rpm so i could reach 137mph if the car was powerful enough.

luca, royvious aint got a clue. All manual vauxhall gearboxes are designated F. The Omega would be F25 anyhow, not R23.
