Emo is what the cool kiddies call it nowadays. It is just the same, but with a nrew title to go with this new title "emo" that's popped up to describe music that's essentially rock.

'Cheer up goth' ahhh... the memories that saying brings back...

There used to be this nightclub in Aberdeen (The Palace) that ran a kinda 'alternative' theme on Mon and thurs night.....

Monday - Mud Club
Thurs - something else....

The mud club was class (for a laugh)..... wierdos all in black leather, goth girls skulking in the corners.... It was like a freak show

emo= bands singing about their ex girlfriends, their current girlfriends or any emotion thats running thru their body e.g Dashboard Confessional-Chris
screamo=simply emo however with the lead screaming into the mic to add to the power of the song e.g Finch-Nate baraclow
post-core=alot harder music, consisting of bands that literally shout into the micraphone for a more harder feel to the song, basically screamo but vice-versa, sometimes backing vocals are added e.g The Bled (without backing), Alexisonfire (with backing)
Hardcore= wheres laney

Back say 5 years, that kind of music was never called anything other than Indie/Alternative, the magazines hadn't invented the extra titles such as Emo, Screamo, whatever. And if they had, they didn't use them. I wasn't saying the music was crap, I actually like it.

hardcore has been around for ages, its only recently blown up into the mainstream as forms of it have been takin over by quite marketable record labels such as drive thru, vagrant, roadrunner, misadventure etc...

rock music has always been sorted into genres - as the variations of rock music differ greatly from one another. hardcore is on the complete oppisite side of the spectrum from grunge, and emo is on the complete oppsite side of the spectrum from doom/black/goth metal.

those who are not educated in these genres are quick to generalize those of us who are and give us the titles of 'goths' or 'grungers' or sadly enuff 'skaters'...

i suggest that for those of you who know shit all about music other than rnb and hip hop - just dont comment. your narrowmindedness and ignorance is pitiful and laughable

avril can go fook off, its pure cack. However, linkin park, sum 41 and SOAD have skill in playing their instruments....therefore, they are not pop bands Obviously its not your typical slash type music (korn etc etc), but they show alot more musical skill in their music than alot of bands, especially the linking park who dont restrict to the use of their instruments, but also bring other computerised elements into their songs as well.

And yes im slightly biased towards linkin park, mainly because their production skills and mastering techniques are second to none...especially when compaired to stuff like Korn (which are utter cack for production stuff), manson (he needs some better engineers working on his stuff) etc etc Plus all (well 99% of the stuff) of linkin parks material is produced/recorded and mastered by Joseph Hahn (and other band members). Eitherway, his work is "fooking fantastic" and he definetly could show other bands a few things

oh and they use DigiDesign Protools gear like me
