i need to get a decent external filter for my cichlid tanks, only got 2 fish in it, but its quite a small tank, 15gal i think, about 2tf long

if its not too large then just go for an Ehiem canister filter, probably the smallest one they do.

ive not disappeared boys some of us have to work too
how can i check dimensions when im not at home makes me laugh ppl are quick to say things, dont no why ur arguing with me u no aswell as me that these fish come from a much harsher environment than any tank any of us would own, and i was not saying a tank should not be cycled as ive done my own tank. yeh u lot seem to no ur stuff but so do i.
im soon moving to marine acquriums as tropical are easy to keep marine can be more of challenge but once its running its not much differant to tropical

You bought a tank that you know is 200G but you dont even know the rough dimensions?!!
And you may be right that they come from harsh environments when you talk about predators, lack of food, etc. But they also come from constantly flowing water, so it is replenished all the time, which means it is better quality than we can provide in our tanks no matter how many filters you have. Especially if you dont cycle it and they have to experience high levels of ammonia which is what I was on about before!

I think we have a fluval 204, i tend not to go near it because i'm scared i will touch it, it will break and we have 100+ litres of water all over our bedroom floor

Coral rock round here is not cheap
the place i got mine was 40£ per 25 kilo and i needed about 100kilos.Shirley aquatis sell theres at 2.99 per kilo

yep ,not cheap and i didnt even reach the top of my tank with that.The catfish i want are 30-35 pounds each also.be carefull with the coral rock as it makes your water harder and some fish dont like it .the fish im getting love hard water so wont affect mine.

Put a few of my pebbles from my old tank into my new tank and i have loads of eggs
Few of my stronger fish i dropped in seem ok at the moment.

Snail eggs ??
Well in the old tank the eggs are a little red circular blob with a jelly kinda ring around it and in my new tank the eggs (cant seem to find them now so maybe they have sunk) are like little bubbles.

without a picture its hard to tell. snail eggs can be brought in from plants sometimes. either that or the fish have been breeding, what breed of fish have you put in?

When i bought 2 starter fish (called mickey mouse fish as they have the shape of the mickey mouse head on their rear fin) i was told from the guy that he sexed them up and they would prob breed

My dad actually bought them thinking they was cool but look gay ! Guy in the fish shop said that they are one of the best starter fish to have in a new tank as they are very strong.
Ill get pics tonight for you.

if there are to be any problems you would notice in a few days after the ammonia has had chance to build up. But with only a few the filter should beable to manage it I would hope!

What would the problems be ? are you talking about the eggs or new tank in general ?
