i havnt read all of the thread, but iv had 2 VTR and 2 corsas and i jst think the saxo is a faster and better handling car, is so much more fun to drive. i admit the corsa feels better built but if u wer arsed about that u wudnt be buying a hatchback

I've had a 1.6 16v sport with all steinmetz kit etc and loads of engine mods e.g lexmaul inlet, four branch etc, was a really nice car to look at performance was ok nothing special for the amount of money i spent lol, handling was terrible when it come to bends and build quality was good nice and solid.
Now i drive a 106 gti which is basically a saxo but not as common as a saxo, which i think looks nice standard form whereas the corsa you need to start fitting a kit etc. performance wise the 106 is alot faster and is very tunable. Handling their is no contest the saxo and 106 are alot better even in standard form and even better when you get a good quality kit. Build quality goes to the corsa, but haven't had any problems yet with my 106.

all ya need on a 106/vts is full zorst,de cat, n filter (which is basics everyone has)
then go Jamsport - CatCams & Remap = 160bhp
trip to Jamsport will be around 800-1000 !
then it will fly past a Corsa XE never mind gsi

Hey up,
Ive driven both and as standard i dont think there is alot in it, i had a 1.4 16v sport and it was pretty much the same in a straight line, but the saxo handled a little better
HOWEVER,
If your going to mod it go for a corsa, as much styling stuff available as saxo and far more engine tuning options!,
and this is a corsa site, buy one!

I checked the battery, all connections were fine and the battery is only 6 months old. also checked the alternator to check the belt was still on and not slipping.

There is nothing in it with a 1.4 16v corsa and VTR I've had a 1.4 16v and my brother has a 100bhp VTS. They both have the same 0-60 time just their power bands are different due to 8v vs 16v.
Saxo is better looking and more modern as standard but Corsa can be made to look better and has more tuning possibilities.

ok 88bhp car that is heavier against a 98 bhp car that is lighter and there is nothing in it?
and vts' are not 100bhp more like 120bhp

think he meant vtr
the mk2 VTR is only a bit slower than a GSi, so no way would a 1.4 keep up and if u did mean VTS ur jst chattin shit then lol

well ive got a 1999 1.6 16v sport and its no where near as quick as the 2002 saxo vtr i had before but i smahsed it . and the handling was 100 times better than the corsa. more reliable, cheaper parts, more accessable mods. and because its an 8valve the power is straight there no stupid powerband. get the vtr 100times better car and 10000000times better looking

maybe but I really like mine ive had two corsas. 1.2 and a gsi and kind of now wonder why I didnt just get a saxo in the first place. Thing that put me off was the pedals but I am used to them now and its fine.
I know mines a vts but it will still handle and look the same as a vtr
Corsa if you want more space and build quality and looks
Saxo if you want faster and more fun
£1200 notes got mine as it stands
can probably get a good standard mk2 vtr forquite a bit less

How does it feel to know that your £1200 car would more than easily keep up with your CTR round a track/in a straight line?
