They are painted metal already and look quite slick. I was thinking they would only cost me a tenner a side at most from a scrappy. It's not like they get damaged really....

Yea I leaned that the hard way I also need to be 100% precise with my next door plate to get it fitting perfectly. I thought I would just be able to bridge small gaps with weld, but no chance...
If I get the next door right then I will think about tackling the roof...

you learne from mistakes mate only way.
the roof should be ok just be careful in the centre towards the inner edge that is the weakest point of the roof.
where did you get that electric DA?

It's a B&Q own brand. It's called 'Power' like all thier own tools. Works well for the money, it cost m £20...
I think I'll give it a go, if it does shrink a little I will have to sort it out, but so long as I only tack it on slowly I should be ok. I will have some more practice on the other door and on some left over bits of metal I have sitting about.
Should I treat the underside of the metal and roof with anything?
Do I need to take the roof liner out too?

yes when you take it back to bear metal spray the bare metal with 'zinc weld through primer' so there is no metal showing spray the metal in this too.
dont worry about the fact youve covered the metal in paint, the primer cotains zinc so it still conducts electricity.
it just stops the bare metal underneath rusting. available in halfords btw

I'm hoping to get the car painted up in Febuary.. I want it to be ready for Max Power Live - the interior doesn't matter for top 100 as no one cares. I want everything to be done for PVS though so it's sexual. O and if that doesn't work out then Trax is the final deadline. Otherwise I will have a ritual burning of it.

Cheers
I'm not going to be painting it myself. A friend of mine is a painter at Bodytone, he paints luxary cars for a living, he said he would do it for me, which is nice

If I get that on the filler, will that damage the filler? It's acidic isn't it?

I'm thinking I might have to bare metal the car due to the thickness of the current paint job, or I could attempt to sand it back to red, or the original etch primer... If I do do it to bare metal I will have to etch primer the large bits I guess.
