Some people have some serious issues in this thread. Either read the previous comments or dont bother posting.

sorry just trying to be funny. on one line you say not bothered about service intervals then the next you say an Evo requires servicing too often.

there is a difference between funny and taking the piss.
Oliver has already said the lance needs servicing too often.
Astra VXA is 20k or 1 year.
Scoob is 12k / 1 year.
He does about 8k a year so they will both need servicing at the same time.

All comes down to running costs, which again doesn't appear to be much of an issue.

In the time that the Scooby and Astra needs 1 service the Evo would have needed to be serviced twice which is ridiculous, and TBH I don't like the look of them.

If it was torn between an astra and an impreza, I agree they are both great cars. But, the astra is still unfortunately an astra and won't have the head turning power of the burble from the flat4 scooby. Plus, especially this time of year, you're gonna appreciate the 4x4 on the scoob over the big power FWD car.

Astra VXR has 20,000 mile service period...
Subraru do not...
King Damio you crack me up
One of the frist thing ollie said was that he wasnt botherd about the service intervals. Doesnt want an EVO because they are serviced 4.5k or something stupid.
I would say you crack me up, but i have no idea who you are... And get it right.... King Daimo was soooooo 2003/2004..........
secondly, i read what i want, its monday f'ing morning.....
Thirdly, learn the ways my young aprentice...
End of the day, different cars, different sectors and cannot be compared performance wise at all. If your looking at both, then go for the options, what toys has each car got, maintenance (19"s aint cheap), fuel yadder blah.
Both cars will perform the same. Scooby will go better in the wet, and also exit corners better due to 4x4. But astra is built well, handles bloody well, just lacks pace out of corners, but thats a turbocharged 230bhp and FWD for you.
I've never seen the appeal of scoobies myself. I'd much prefer an Evolution.

Arrgggh this is ridiculous.
Trouble is getting Subaru to let us test drive one, was alright at Vauxhall as Rach still had her GSi and they took us seriously, turning up in either a 1.0 Corsa C or a R-reg Mondeo Verona is unlikely to fill them with confidence about us is it?

That'd be the selling point for me.
Vauxhall let me take one out, yet subaru won't. I'd instantly think "shit, the scoob must be unreal"
If you wanna drive 200+ miles you can have a go of mine, gladly
