you will have very slight stone chips, by stone chips i dont mean what your thinking liek a chip in the paint, a stone chip on a light wont be noticable but after a while the lens goes a fraction misty, its loads of tiny tiny chips

I've read a couple of people in here polishing their cars once a week etc.
Why?
You should only have to polish it once every few months if that and keep a nice coat of wax on top.

Wash mines everyday which includes wash, chamois, windows done, wheel slick plastics dressed and polish and a coat of carnuba wax once a week. Being a valeter i have easy access to everything though and just do it during work.
But i cant stand havin a dirty car, i just about commited suicide during winter

I wax my car once a week when the weather ok... not because it needs it because I enjoy it. Fair play to this guy! Its his hobby and he's obviously enjoys it, So why not.

I thought you were only meant to do like what John said. Polish, clay bar once or twice a year. Rest of the time just wax it.

Depends on what wax/polish you use, some last longer than others.
I often polish my car but only wax it twice a year with carnuba wax. Never really done the car any harm.

On the contrary, the process he has chosen, makes every sense on doing it to a new car.
He has gone a bit too far IMHO, but it's excellent work.
You need to understand the processes and how factory paint looks to understand why the chap did it.
He's basically taking the paint to the next level, not 'cleaning a clean car' as some seem to think on here. Factory paint can be brought up so much better. A lot of the time, a dealer will clear the protective deliver gel/lacquer and then attack it with a mop. This will leave marring, swirls and can actually be more harm than good. Factory paint will also have microscopic orange peal in it, haze and all sorts of imperfections.
The high end Zymol stuff is expensive, but it's got a lifetime refill on it. Since it only tends to get purchased by top end detailers who charge an arm and a leg for a full detail, they get through the stuff, so it's a wise investment for them.
It could be seen as being sad, but each to their own. No different really than someone wanting to plough £30,000 into a 1.2 Corsa.

I wash my car about every 4-6 months if even then. LOL. if it don't light up or have to be looked through I don't reallly care!! I run too many gravel roads to care anyways!!
I don't even "get" guys who wash their cars once a week!! I figure a "clean car is a car that's not driven".
But as a few have said, some would laugh at people who spend thousands on a hundred dollar/pound car so......

A lady friend of mine has purchased a new VXR in power red and I now understand why the chap who owns the blue one in this thread has the horn over it.
What a spectacular little car. I really like it.
