OK dan the plan!

Right then,

1. You pick up engine tomorrow

2. Ill get the head off

3. Strip down the head, clean it all up, send for skimming and port/polish (not too expensive)

4. Lap in valves etc, buy and fit double valves springs

5. Fit all the head seals etc, Fit the cams.

That will do for now, the bottem end can be started once this is done

Change of plan kinda now. Port/polishing wont be done until a later date.

The only upgrade we will be having prior to it going in and running wiull be a rebore to 87mm pistons. Then wossner 87mm forged pockted pistons and PEC steel conrods

Then once its up and running ok and the bank account has been refilled, on with the TB's, cams etc etc

Well, MASSIVE update! - 16th april.

Well Doldy went to shineeeees yesterday to pick up the engine. I got a phone call this morning asking if i could go give him a hand lift it out of the car. 10mins later i get a cheeky txt "can we take the head off this afternoon"

Well i started my proper work at 6am, Finished at 2pm and travelled home to give him a lift, and if i could be arsed, take the head off.

Started work at about 3pm, the poor little festa was a bit heavy decked due to engine..

Doldy had cleared the big workshop out in the morning, so it was ready to work in..

Started removing the head for him, as i wanted to get the block on the engine stand, and there was no way we was gonna lift it up that high on our own..

Once the head was off, we cut some threaded rod up, to make bolts to hold block to my engine stand, and lifted it on...

Then i had got into the mood and didnt want to stop, so said to doldy i would take the sump off, the water pump out, and the idlers off and call it a day...

So it was all i was planning on doing, but i was so into it by now i thought fuck it, carry on, so off came the mains and big ends...

Then out came the crank...

So 2 hours later we had a box of bits or 4, a head and a completely bare block...

I think thats enough from me for a few hours I think i did more work in them 2 hours than ive done all week in my proper job

Next step...

Strip the head out so its bare and send the block and head for rebore and skimming.

Yet another update!! - 17/04/08

Got doldy to run the head to my work, so i could start it at 2pm when i finished

Removed the lifters....

Looking down the inlet it looks like its a fairly new or had a good rebuild with new valves and an acid dipping...

Removed all the valves/stem seals etc and baged them individually....

Looks like its had some port polishing too....

Then finally i removed all the inlet/exhaust studs and gave it a steam clean and degreasing....

Now the block and head is ready to go for rebore and skimming. Just gotta wait for the pistons and rods

Good job my labour rates good doldy thats 3hrs work now ive done on it!!
