He's right, it might be blag.

Just like it might be wheel figures.

If you can't make a decision on balance of probability you're not going to accept yet another forum post which makes more sense than you do.

Instead of phoning all these random companies phone vauxhall and ask them the flywheel bhp of a 1.2 corsa c sxi.

When they come back and say it's close to 79 and not 100 you can apologise.

LOL is this guy still going.

Buddey before you go setting up websites you should at least research your site content & get it right.

You've wasted about 6 months of Chris's life with this dribble....admit your wrong, apologise & learn what your talking about!

Awesome thread I think folk should be concentrating more on the graph itself instead of the figures. Surely useable power over a better rev range is better than peak power for a pub figure

this is out of my hands now as far as im concerned..

if ste cant use the information in front of his eyes to work out the facts then its his downfall..

he knows himself that he is wrong but probably just doesnt want to admit it, but by not admitting this its making himself look worse..

worst thing was be banned me from his site for making this allegation. (sp)

Question... my old Golf GTI (standard Mk V) "has" 197bhp/200PS... is this at the wheels or at the fly?

I think it's more likely you were banned for being smug and obtuse Chris.

I got called a bad site admin for not deleting this for the record.

tbh it wasn't small bickering, this involved dyno's, total vauxhall magazine and alot of accusations that i personally wanted to get to the bottom of, i now know alot of the readings are fly which i didnt know.

Its also been the most interesting read this week week

Right when manufactorers say their BHP of their cars, they are talking fly bhp. This is to make them sound better - a marketing plause.

So all the powers quoted are fly

I don't agree that it's entirely a marketing plause. If they're bench testing the engine, which is the only way to get accurate figures, then they would only have fly figures available to them. More convention than sales pitch although yes, the fly figure sounds more impressive. Particularly if you mistake it for wheel

Flywheel figures are qouted, as flywheel figures are what is measures on TUV approved engine dyno's in the first place.

Thats the power the engine actually makes, so thats the power they qoute, simple as that really.

Otherwise they would have to qoute different figures for auto and manual on the same engine as the auto has bigger drivetrain losses.
