Surely it'd have to be a monumental air leak to cause it to rev to 5k, not really the sort of thing that'd be hard to find?

What have you tried?

Airleaks are a serious pain in the arse I had a nightmare with mine doing the same as yours. If it was me I'd strip down the inlet completely, then refit it all using new gaskets and lots of sealant to make sure all the seals are spot on. Also have you tried spraying some carb cleaner around the seals to find the leak mate? Hope you get it sorted soon!

Tyred everything, its been off 3 times now! Alex will say the same, its a myth n he thinks it could be lower inlet, just been told it may be ICV oring not in right place!

Seeing as i had it connected to my diag shit, everything read right, the powerbox is tight and we resealed it, Again. Plus you can see the ecu cutting the injectors after it stays at 5k for a few secs.

Theres no faults come up, and its done 100k and afaik we know, hasnt had a head gasket on it, so the inlet gasket could be falling to bits.

Also it hasnt exactly had a easy life for last couple of years.

If it will go through a mot, id do the inlet gasket for chris, but untill it has a mot, its not ideal for him to come down here again.

Looks mint on the 6 spokes mate Everyone seems to hate them though, even though most people have commented on yours saying it looks good!

I love them and have them on my car

ive had this problem before and the brake servo pipe going onto the inlet had split allowing it to leak it starting revving to about 5k and sometimes it would stall as well
