Utter bollocks Granted, like every manager he has signed a few wrong uns but for every shite player he has signed, hes signed 5-10 great players... even some fo the players who dont make it at arsenal go on to make it elsewhere... bentley ( ), upson etc etc

what reason is there to think they will finish ahead of tottenham, citeh or arsenal? the excuse of injuries wears a bit thin after a while, isnt this a squad game nowadays, which liverpool obviously dont have and that shows that benitez has not progressed the club well enough over the last 5 years.

anyway at liverpool, never mind im sure they will be back next year
youd have to be very shocked to imagine liverpool wont finish top 4 come the ebnd of the season (barring any appalling injuries) as look at the other teams... spurs, playign well yes but taken to the cleaners by arsenal chelski and man utd, city... beat us granted but we shoudlnt ahve lost that match, other than that they ahve become a boring score draw team... aston villa/everton, be very very surprised if they can mouitn a challeneg for 4th.

Shit night last night, didn't really expect lyon to get anything out of the game but had crossed fingers. As said by gerrard we don't deserve to be there, we shouldn't have left it out of our own hands. I was dissapointed we didn't get aquilani on and go for a big win incase lyon got one back but wasn't to be anyway. We just have to swallow it and hope to get a good run in the league to secure 4th. It's the most dissapointing start to the season I can remember for us, but we can still pull our way back to 4th.

I'm still not calling for benitez's head though, what good would sacking him do right now, not much tbh. If he gets us to 4th he'll still be here next season.

Would be pretty safe to assume unless he quits he'll be there for a good couple years yet seeing how much it would cost to get rid of him and get john barnes and sammy lee in

Sammy lee's already 'in' In all seriousness if the fans turned on him then I doubt the owners would have much choice but to get rid of him, but we can all see that it's not the right option for us at the moment.

Benitez is worse than Wenger for that!!!!!

2006 Rafa bought 7 players, only 2 of which were any good. Granted you might say some were kids but the only one I've seen poking his way in to this first team is that little scally Jay Spearing.

2006 was what 2 years after he joined us, he had a squad he wasn't happy with and had to take some risks with signings. He has only just been given full control over what happens with the academy, he's also brought insua through and ngog btw

EDIT - Oh and he didn't sign speo in 2006, he has been at our academy since he was 8 or so (oh and btw he's not a scally, he's a nice lad )

The board can be blamed for alot of things, i'd saying pinning a manager down who has got fuck all to spend (and no signs of that improving) is a good thing.

You say he has got nothing then say he won the CL, which is it?

He may not have much silverwear, but the club has progressed hugely since he took over. We have been an absolute force in Europe for pretty much the last 4 or 5 seasons (other than this one), and he took us on a title run that went to the last games which we have not had in many many years.

Can't remember now but you bought a shit load of players, few being kids and you got Kuyt?

Edit - Bellamy, Gonzalez, Pennant, Aurelio Kuyt and Paletta Plus some kids?

3 of those were good (Bellamy, Aurelio and Kuyt). Bellamy was just a gobshite so was sold for a profit.

Gonzalez was sold for a profit after being forced to loan him for 2 seasons as couldnt get a permit.

Paletta was a youngster and didnt really make it, we swapped him for Insua (straight swap) who has turned out good.

Pennant was a bad move, probably one of his worst as lost a bit of money. The rest of his havent really.

Yeah figured those two were the ones you meant.

Bellamy was a good signing, got us into the CL final in 2007 - was a gobshite though!
