so roughly £500 (if not more) when it get's over here. A macbook is only another £200. A netbook is about half the cost.

sales man not sorted tho...
how easy is it to hook up to an Exchange server? Run and edit Office docs, powerpoint files etc
Not looked into it in depth, but apple and MS are hard to intergrate

Hmm, interesting to see how much it will actually be over here then. Could be anything from starting at £350 up to £500!

A Macbook is a full £300+ more.
And I doubt it will jump over £200 more after the currency conversion.

I'm a fanboy and not that technically minded so I'd just buy something switch it on and use it. If the pricing is similar over here I'll be interested.

my iPhone connects to our exchange server fine, its pre built in to do that.
iWork lets you use all common MS file formats

i think you lot are failing on how mac sells products over here. They don't sell them at exchange rates, they stick a load more on top.
Ie: Macbook in the states - $999 (exchange rate makes it £618) Yet it's £816 over here!
so an ipad won't be 300 quid, far from it, it'll more likely to be £500 for the bottom end.

you can buy from the US but need to fly there to get it otherwise risk import tax, VAT and then it will cost silly money again

If you use a similarly priced item, say the Mac Mini @ $599, that is £510 here.

Doesn't Verizone use a different type of network? Could be an issue if you're after a 3G.
Otherwise, nothing i suppose, just got to take in account of shipping (will they ship over here) and tax - both could be dodged and bodged if you have family in the states though.

gutted to him though nath...
the other day I read how a person had to hand over a load of domains for free to apple, like blueipod.com, ipods.com, macbookpro.com etc
Reason? because apple own the trade marks on the names.
