I think that Gavin with his VTS that will keep up with 99% of cars on the road and track has the best of both worlds.
Decent looking car that is cheap enough to replace if you right it off and still decent enough to pick up the gash.
Sell the Alfa and get a Saxo VTS.

This is such a stupid idea Pow. Sell the Mito privately and buy a 2nd/3rd hand Golf GTi and sell it annually and replace with something else to keep mileage low.

I toyed with the idea of a second car for ages, butit comes with it's own problems. I can't insure it for a decent price, then you have double the tax, MOT, repair plus I have nowhere to acutally keep it!

it would still all be cheaper than the extra £ youd be spending to upgrade

But I don't want a Golf GTI I'm not being funny here Oliver, what you like and what I like are two completely different things! Golfs are common as muck, look boring, are mega bucks and I've had nothing but bad experainces with VAGs.
I'm going to see what the figures look like and make my mind up from there. Yes I will loost out on some money bt I don't really care... if it's too much money I'll scrap the whole idea

Yes they are I agree. But what you are doing is side stepping and pointless.
What about something a bit more special? Fiat 500 Abarth?

Bargains to be had on Clio 200's at the moment, and I didn't realise the 500 Abarth is only £12,995.
Very attractive at that price.

You go on like 15k a year is alot!? I did 30k in a year in my Zetec S which was absolutely fine! I'll probably do 15k in my MPS and that's a 2nd car! You are gonna look back on this thread when you are tied down with a house etc and think 'I wish I'd listened'

I honestly wouldn't both pow. Not for the same car anyway.
And 37mpg? You'd be driving it like a fag. The Punto does 38-40mpg no matter how it's driven. Book figure is 47mpg combined.
If you want a fun car I'd be considering something else, a change.
At the end of the day, you have a bloody nice MiTo that isn't exactly a slouch.
Going from a MiTo to MiTo is a waste of money imho.

can you current car not be chipped for performance?
your bothered about 15% increase in fuel costs, but not about the thousands you will lose in depreciation? Are you a nut case?
15k is average miles, double it and then its high per year
