Yep Butler experienced my worst nightmare at Lydden, I was going to go on track that day but as soon as I turned up I got bad vibes, looked like Whacky Racers out there.

good vids... Oliver, I left you a wee comment

Ian - were you trying to get it sideways or just dealing with it? I used to get our old 205 out of shape on certain corners to get a better exit angle Seems you brake quite deep (not really late as such) into corners too (trail braking).

Oliver - go faster....

Nova - looks great fun, and could be quicker still (from the vids I watched)... you were off the throttle for some time before braking in a few corners.

I could go faster Adam, I just don't have a 6 figure salary to replace the car if the worst was to happen. I still think I go fast enough though 99% of the time, I could brake a bit later but I just don't want to risk it, I want time to deal with the unexpected.

The GP Track in Germany was a demonstation of driving at the limit in the Polo, I'd never drive the Astra to those limits

I think even if I could have a switch to turn it off I would still leave it turned on

I just like the car too much to run the risk of having an off.

I do maybe 1 track day per quarter at most, I know it's tempting fate saying it's not financially worth it but I'm very sensible, I drive within my limits and anyone getting close to me I let past at the earliest opportunity.

As much as i understand what people are saying about the braking, i still brake very late as i don't really see the risk, obviously there is a limit but if you brake slightly to late your only going to have a late turn in, i can't see how anyway could brake to late and hit a barrier, well if they did then it's really just bad judgement.

I find if you generally brake about a second after the brake cone, turn in hit the apex and accelerate from there you can't really go wrong and you'll have pretty quick pace whilst maintaining smoothness around the circuit..

I've been off a fair amount of times due to braking too late! Locking up, rear end stepping out etc. If you go in to hot just keep it straight to get the speed off.

Its a very very fine line if you are going balls out.

Dont use brake cones once you have done a few laps... each car and driver is different!

haha, i lost all braking when you were following me, talk about brake fade... my pedal kept going to the floor. I had to start braking really early

I've got some ditch finder brake pads fitted

That's what I meant to ask you, is that Cavalier of Dougies an XE? On the straight out of Quarry the Nurburgendy was matching it's straight line pace.

Pffff didn't see OJC's rear brake lights flicker even once. Pansy.

Liked the vid, would really like a crack in that nova, looks quite raw.

I miss cars sometimes, esp on sunny track days which looked fairly open in terms of track space.

Anyone got any pictures of the day yet? Not seen any posts?

On an alternative post, I thought I saw OJC saturday, but then realised it was a Derv.

Same wheels, black stripe accross the back, diff colour VXR badge, white. It wasn't though. Was off VXRonline though. Think it was actually an 888.

How would you know if they were flickering Lee is only behind me for half a lap

Anyway flickering means the ABS is cutting in and why would that be good

Can't you keep your VXR and track that? Sell them ridiculous bikes of yours

Under hard braking the rear lights flicker, not when the ABS kicks in. Never had the ABS kick in on track.

Astra is funding the new car, besides, astra far too slow. Wouldn't mind taking it on track for one last blast, but got a road trip so no moniez.
