I'm not saying that a smallblock's going to be the exact same to drive as an XE/ LET but I don't know if the difference is as drastic as is made out.

Answer's pretty obvious so where do people get this thing that a smaller engine is better??

mine was faster than a standard xe corsa round a track.
It was also faster than a 206 gti 180, Clio 172.

I would quit digging a deeper hole.

What you talking about digging a hole, I'm just putting my opinion across.

You were faster than one XE and you immediately think it's faster than any other one out there? What if you got your exact Corsa you had and put an XE in it (and matched the front springs if you want to be pedantic) - do you reckon it'd make it do a faster or slower lap time around an identical track?

I never once said that I was faster than anyone out there just becuase I was faster than 1 xe corsa. Just stating facts.
the answer your looking for your second question is Yes I would be faster if I was driving.

Straight line my corsa sucked and I always moaned about it, but through the bends it would keep/be better pace/d with far superiour stuff.

I'm not meaning to come across as a cunt here but it comes down to the question I've already asked. If a medium - highly tuned 1.4/ 1.6 does a slower lap than at least a stock XE why are there so many people who think a 2.0 ruins the way the car drives? Unless you have the money to throw at a small block to get it near the same figures as a bigger capacity engine, to me it makes no sense.

I've got nothing against the likes of 1.4/ 1.6s and love to see them running decent power though. Just that if someone's looking at starting from scratch it would make more sense to me to start with a more powerful base and put up with the extra weight.

Absolutely fucks your tyres! and there are about 5-6 different track surfaces so you're constantly getting different feedback.
