Like i said, someone would be left at home who would travel and not play a minute anyway, so it makes no difference.

That's why Carroll was last on the list tbh. I just figured he offers something different. I'd have no problems if Sturridge went instead however.

England won't get out the group without Rooney IMO.

If Carroll starts performing better for us, he's there already imo. He's a different option, and I would expect Capello to try him in one of the next two matches regadless. Stevie will be there too, if he starts linking up well with Carroll, even better. I can't see Wellbeck starting many, I wouldn't mind seeing Bent alongside Sturridge.

there is no doubting that rooney is a world class player but on the internationsal stage, hes an average player who generally has little effect. i think more of the worry is that we doint have greta depth up front and so whoever goes in wont necy be much of an upgrade

We've won more without Rooney than we have with him, and he's scored 4 goals in tournament play, 3 of them came in 1 game.

I agree with Souness tbh, if he's on fire come the end of the season, then take him, if he's not then leave him here.

He shouldn't take part in any of the friendlies leading up to it though, but should call him up so he's with the squad still (and to piss off utd fans and fergie)

He doesnt deserve to play against Spain, Holland, or Brazil (think we've got them in friendlies although I could be completely wrong) and I don't care how little they want to play for the country, games against those teams would still be a great achievement for a player, and the type of games they'd want to play in
