Stupid comparison, both cars are in different sectors.
I currently work for Skoda, really good cars for the money.

Apparently not in different sectors as we've just got them for the same purpose...
BMW are premium sector, Skoda aren't

Evidently you have aswell! My point was that at work in comparison the 330d is a far better vehicle for its purpose. I didnt say Octavia VRS are awful cars.... I said in comparison the VRS is a shocking drive.
Forgetting the class of vehicle an BMW being a premium brand
Strange you say that. I've driven the new 3 series and i'd say it was far from a drivers car.

Interesting to hear, i do like the DSG on the Skoda. We obviously drive them very hard and I guess rwd has alot to do with it feeling alot better on the road
And the BMW costing 20k more as its a premium car might have something to do with it

I just got a Maserati Quattroporte at work to replace a 330d. The BMW is shocking in comparison.

What police function do you perform that you drive the car hard and notice any benefits rwd may bring?

Not got it yet. Hopefully this week. Positive impressions of the DSG so far from the test drive.

Changed my order to include the Kenwood system. Decided I couldn't live without DAB and SD card function.
Stealer was hoping to get me into the car by end of this week so it helps their November figures but doubt that will happen. Especially as i'm away Thurs/Fri nights in Bristol.

Pick it up tomorrow.
Been a bit of a pallava with Skoda as the salesman who sold me the car seemed to get sacked.

I'm obviously in the same line of work as CorsaTDI, as they've just replaced our 325 and 330 diesels with two diesel VRS. Nice enough cars and i'd be happy with it as my own personal car, but not a patch on the 330s.
And for the price that is paid for them, its not £20k more, probably nowhere even near half that.
John - The area cars have historically been rear wheel drive cars. They're more powerful than the basic panda cars (obviously) and driven at far higher speeds, as they're the ones used in pursuits. The rear wheel drive cars are far more capable.

Yeah, i'm not going to try and compare it to a BMW 330 or Audi A4. I know its not the same. If i'd have wanted that level of car i'd have got another A4, no doubt, but I couldn't justify the extra expenditure on another A4 when the vRS is such a good deal, especially atm.
I would be looking at £25k for a nearly new, A4 in the spec I wanted.
Got a brand new, well loaded Octavia vRS DSG for £19k.
I do a fair bit of mileage and change my cars every two years as I get bored. So no brainer for me.

Enjoy it - as much as my 2007 vRS TDi was a dog, I did enjoy it.
I'm looking at them again to replace my Mazda next year...

2 days in and love it! It feels really quick after the lazy A4 engine and the DSG box is awesome. On kickdown all hell breaks loose!
Interior with red stitching that I was concerned about looks great too.
Chuffed to bits. Its like a cross between my A4 and Astra VXR. Perfect combo for me!
