Haha na I don't need to do that just I've had both and Corsa Turbo and Evo. The only thing Turbo's have an upper hand on is the surprise factor. For everything else, there's no comparison.

Sorry, I read this though and that was enough.
Nic and others have to spend thousands on huge turbos, stand alone management, forged internals, fueling upgrades, etc. etc. etc. to get anywhere near 400bhp. Mitsubishi rolled one off the production line with 400bhp. Not being funny mate, just stating. Nic will understand.

As true as that is you have to remember its old technology vs new technology so it's quite obvious that things are made better now. Although that's kinda the reason in thinking of moving on as well. I've enjoyed building the car as much as driving it. Just think perhaps a less powerful 4wd car would be the right way to go.

Agreed but the technology is used more for handling aids and transmission. The Evo 4 was produced whilst Vauxhall were still producing C20LET 4x4 Cavaliers and Calibras but their FWD system was shit and the engine making less potential. While Mitsubishi were using the same platform but with 300bhp, masses of potential and the AYC system that worked! I think Vauxhall got it wrong!

It did, but its not as bad as the internet heroes make out. Not Evo standards, but you could do a darn sight worse.
I still vote Cossie. If it has to be an Evo then Evo5

Want so fucking much

Do some test driving now though, so you know what feels good to drive.
Mild Evo 7-9, mild inpreza newage (sti versions) and included the wildcard of a tuned GTR.
The GTR is really a different sort of car to the evo/impreza but isn't actually thjat much bigger/heavier than later evo/imps.
Those saying 400bhp is 'easy' on lower leval evo/imprezas are a bit misleading. Research will show what's needed for a safe 400. For the sake of an exhaust, filter and map a GTR will be pushing an unstressed 400bhp... They really will kick the other two into touch if its power you want. That said the evo/impreza will prob hamdle better out the box.
I'd give imprezas a good look too (I love my 2door classic)... All the WP guys (evo mad) say that it handles much better than theirs ( evo 4 6 and 8 )
Each to their own though... Just don't make up your mind before trying various options. The are all very different whilst sounding the same to those that haven't checked them out. Evo fwd biased, skyline very rwd till slip, impreza varies with model
Tips:
Skylines - go for an early lightweight R32. You can get very serious cars for the budget you indicate. I'd avoid 33's and 34s are too expensive. Don't even waste time thinking about gtt or gtst's.
Ignore those suggesting mitsi 3000 gtos!
