I wouldn't drive on a track barefooted.
That's not because it's not possible.

Why not?
If you get more control as claimed in here, surely it would be the best way?

Not even sure whether you're taking the piss now.
Fire and accident debris.

I'm not taking the piss.
Both of they things can happen on the road.
When you are doing 70 down the motroway and something stabs your foot though you won't just run off, you'll probably crash.

I'd guess for the same reason you don't drive down the M6 in a Nomex suit and full face helmet.

Why not fireproof socks then?
If no shoes was the absolute best for controlling the car racing drivers could have a very thin layer of fireproof material.

I'll leave the trawling back through 6 pages for you but has anyone said no shoes is the best for car control?

Oh my days-I've just driven another 32 miles and not had any kind of incident!
What's this bollocks about applying pressure-can people not use their feet? Wearing shoes will reduce pedal feel, that's obvious as the receptors in your feet will be masked by 10mm of rubber and not only that but pressure will be distorted across the entire sole unlike bare foot where you feel everything in direct contact which is precisely why real race shoes are so fucking thin on the sole, barely thicker than a sock and not intended for walking in!!
John, you still haven't brought any evidence of 'stupidity' to this argument-it appears that you're someone who even when proven wrong, is not accepting of the facts infront of them. You'll argue black is white for the sake of it and I'm not sure if you're serious or baiting but it's tiresome how you clearly feel that if something opposes your opinion or way of life then it must be wrong or 'stupid'. You'd argue that wiping you're arae with your right hand is the only correct way because that's how you do it

Used to jump straight out on the waterfront, walk across the gravel beach, get on a boat and teach windsurfig yeah, also I get shoes wet on sea trials, I'll drive home barefoot rather than have wet feet all the way as that's be more of a distraction and I wouldn't put wet shoes back on. I walk around my house, drive and garden barefoot so why would it make a difference

Maybe that's the point, you city dwellers who can't walk outside barefoot have got nancy soft feet which are too sensitive to drive with

You're a hippy though.
Most normal people walk on gravel, stones, junkies needles and random other things. Imagine getting one of them up the sole of your foot when you go to press the brake pedal?
