It wasn't trying to set a road legal time. It set a time. The car itself is road legal. It is the fastest time set by a car that can be driven on the road. The road legal aspect of the time isn't what is being said.

Yeah, people who disagree with an actual record, recognised by the governing body of the whole of fucking motorsport. Obviously I'm the pleb.

What don't you understand??
the fact it can't do a 1/4 miles on the road in 6.59 seconds
i know it's road legal. i'm not a fucking idiot. i can see it's being driven on the road.
but it didn't set the time with those street tyres on.
i clearly have a point as it seems half agree and half disagree.
But thats not what its about.
It dosn't have to be in road legal trim to hold the title. Its not being made out to be the fastest car to drive straight from the guys house, roll up to the start line, and set the quickest 1/4 mile time in the world.
End of the day, it has tax, mot, and is insured. Thats enough for it to carry its road legal status.
Why are you even putting the 2 things together in the 1st place?? Making out it has to do those time in its road legal state??

if it doesnt have to be in road legal trim to hold the title, that makes the title a farce

Maybe they should change the record to 'the fastest road legal car in the world, but not in road legal trim and the tyres won't pass an mot but the car can still be driven legally on the road with hardly any modification is that better for the Internet? Ok good record.'

no they should make it fastest road legal car in the world but actually make the rules so the cars are actually running as the title suggests
pretty basic stuff really

As long as the rules are the same worldwide, wtf is the problem, really?

the problem is either the title, or the rules
its too much of a faff to change the title to fastest road legal car in the world but not running in road legal trim, so just the rules change would be logical

If it was called the monkey ball award, it wouldnt matter. The rules are the rules. It is a road legal car, it is the fastest car which can also be used on the road, so it is the fastest road legal car. Name is totally irrelevant

steve how could you have rules when every country have different guidelines on road legal and what is and isnt legal?, stop being so pedantic and deliberately an idiot.

you could practically make any car road legal with enough work
the problem is the road legal part isnt representative of the car at the time therefore it makes the title a farce.

Its like having fastest n/a car in the world, but to set the time the guy used a turbo.
then arguing that at the rest of the time apart from the race the car is a n/a
