intresting/desperate appointment
paolo caused some storms in league 2 and 1, and im not quite sure he will be able to carry on the same vain in the premier league. However if sunderland were to go down with there fanbase (genuinley not sure how loyal you lot are ie of your a west ham/man city and sell out in the championship or like a middlesborough with 17 fans) then it could be the perfect test with a fair amount of money behind him and a lot of expectations.
if he does well then it will answer alot of west ham fans have been asking, can he cut it in the higher leagues

anyway i cant belive how misunderstood dicanio is
Dave Bowman, chairman of the supporters’ club Greater Manchester branch, said he was stepping down from his position and would not be returning to the stadium while Di Canio was in charge.
Mr Bowman, a Sunderland fan since his first game in 1958 and season ticket holder since the Stadium of Light opened in 1997, believes Short may not understand the deep feelings of some supporters.
He said: `It feels like a bereavement. The backbone of the support is working class and this is an appalling appointment.
'How can we have a Nelson Mandela Day at the stadium and the following day appoint a self-confessed fascist with, I believe, a Mussolini tattoo? It is hypocrisy"

Seems silly appointing him on a 2 and a half year contract when he won't see it out.

he is, quote from above
A few years ago an Italian journalist asked him about Francesco Totti; a player who achieved, at Roma, the same iconic status Di Canio enjoyed with their detested rivals, Lazio.
"Totti has said that he wouldn't sit at the same dinner table with me," Di Canio replied. "I said that was no great loss because if you tell Totti there are tensions in the Middle East, he'll assume that a fight has broken out on the right side of midfield."

DI canio will always be a legend in my eyes.
Miss him and his days at the hammers.
Legend status due to things like this.

You'd get punched in the face up here for being called Benjamin - a poofs name.
