That particular 135i was naff but it was the closest one we could test drive, it's definitely not crossed off the list yet.

That's what I meant, that particular one not them in general.
RS needs to be green

Looked at a green one, dealer had sold it though, so couldn't even sit in it.
Looks great in the sun but shite in today's dull grey weather.

How did the 135i compare to the Z4M? I'm giving the 135i coupe some thought in a bid to save some money on my eye watering car tax bill!

Slower but if anything, it was a lot easier to drive. I suppose you could call it softer.

I suspect it'll be easier to live with day to day than the Z4, but it'll be a hard car to part with! I hear it's possible to get a fair bit of power out of the N54 or N55 lumps though?

Apparently so, there's one on pistonheads with a remap, exhaust and intercooler and it's got 390bhp. I've seen a few about with 420bhp from not much more than the above. Can't imagine needing any more!

Just remember that when you do test drive the above cars that the performance is pretty much set in stone unless you spend mega money on super chargers. The mk2 RS is a nice car. Green would be my choice tho and the tuning potential is massive.

Same with anything without a turbo though.
Need to drive an RS really but it's hard to find them at dealers near me

Anyway... I'm happy with a turbo (or 2), as eck said, gives more scope for tuning.

Similar position here, I test drove a 135 M coupe, was lovely but didnt feel "that" fast. It just didnt feel like it was pulling that hard. Looking at the speedo, it quite clearly was though.
370Z may be worth a look, I sat in a Cayman and the seats were to narrow to get comfy.
Have an A5 as a daily, and that is such a nice car to drive - have you looked at a decent spec'd one?

Had a 350z befire and the build quality was atrocious so that's put us off the 370z completely.
Looked at an S5 but it was a bit big for what we are after.
I thought the same about the 135i, but thrn as said the test route was shocking

The Merc E-Class Coupe's are coming down in price now, but I guess thats the same size as the S5 really.
I had the 135 on a good route for the test drive, it just doesnt have the shove you expect, which was what I wanted. I would imagine a remapped version with a more aggressive map would be great though, no question its a quick car.

Yeah, that's my fear with it but I guess I really need to try it on a decent road too. I'd like to give a remapped one a go too, 360-400bhp will feel completely different too.
E class coupe is too big I think.

Whats the goal Robin?
Are you wanting Turbo for ultimate power? Or would you rather a more balanced track car with better throttle response etc?
Or is it going to be on individual merit or character of each individual car?
I reckon the Focus might be fun. But if you want huge power then it will be a bit of a waste through the front wheels.
Could strip a 135i? Make a sort of "CSL" version? Albeit turbo

This car won't be going on track, too expensive. I really want something a little bit silly, decent power, something that handles well and as with anything, I'm likely to want to do bits here and there like a remap and intercooler etc.
I think my goalposts might be in the wrong place though, I don't think a 300bhp car will blow me away
