16vMarc, this may sound daft but why didnt you just buy a jap import 280bhp standard scoob?
Because many imports are refused by dealers, parts can be difficult to source and you dont know the history of the car. Nevermind not seeing it until you've paid large ammounts on cash then finding out you've bought a pile of sh'te.
who gets their cars serviced at dealers, most parts can be sourced easily and who buys a car without doing a bit of research behind it. so ur post is just ridiculous
16vmarc - i can see you point!

Most people on here seem to send their cars in to get serviced, partially because they many not have the time and partially because they dont know what they're doing. Do you honestly know your car inside out and own every tool you need to fix every possible problem? Thought not, so you'd also need to put your car into a dealers.
Many parts are different on import models. FACT.
And how much factual research can you do on a car thats at the other side of the world? When buying my latest car, we spent 5 hours looking over it before we accepted it. Can you do that when buying an import?

It also helps when selling the car on that it has frequent Vauxhall stamps in the service book.

My point exactly. Its not a bad thing getting someone who knows what they are doing to fix your car.
I cannot see your point Gambit, so please retract your comment.

i cannot see your point either gambit. TBH, if you were selling the car to a garage, be it partX, they want to see nice big dealer serviced stamps on it. Not some back street garage greasy stamps. The same goes when selling it to some moaning 50 year old git.

That was a quote of 16vmarc. I couldnt be bothered doing the whole QUOTE button thing.
Nova engines are dead simple, hence all the work is done by myself or my mechanics.
