I'm going to have to sack biking off for a bit as I've entered the Cumbrian run so focussing on that for the next few months. Nearly clocked 1000 miles already this year so not doing badly as none of that is commuting, and 99% of it will be on the mtb in bike park lakes.

I always carry 2 tubes, tyre lever and a mini pump - i can change a tube in a couple of minutes now. It's hard without a tyre lever on road bikes with modern puncture proof tyres - they fit tight! It's easy with practice though - hard bit is working out why it has punctured, and making sure what caused it is gone

Entered this next year on a bit of an impulse... What did I do! Time to lose a couple of stone. The more I read about it the worst it gets lol

http://www.opencycling.com/

150 miles , 15000 ft of climbing .... Basically a tough 90 mile ride bookended by 30 miles of hell. I am actually less confident about completing this than I was lands end to john I groats

although similar muscles they don't really compliment each other from what I've been reading up on. for general fitness yeah sure. trying to run 3 times a week and bike twice a week then I've still got time to see the girlfriend before she gets pissed off with me

sdw is 101 miles with just over 11000ft of climbing that's 150 with 15000 wow doesn't look like the ascent up north is much more than down here in the south where its flat apparently but 150miles off road in a day is a lot that's probably 20+ hrs in the saddle as an average person does the sdw in 14hrs.
SDW is the south downs way by the way

It's nothing compared to that Coast to Coast, but I'm entering the London to Brighton off road. It's meant to be a bit of a challenge due to the climbs!

L2B off-road is relativley easy, but for the downs link which is dead flat and boring and the last climb is bitch.
