I agree with everything you are saying there. If a player doesnt want to be at a club anymore and hands in a transfer request then you may as well cash in. I do think that Carrol will do well for you and I have a feeling him and Suarez will become a good partnership. Suarez is also pretty young isnt he?
I think you feel the same now as I did when Terry Henry (TH14) left Arsenal. Obviously a huge loss but you could tell that he wasnt as motivated, the only difference is you got a lot more money with your sale and reinvested it, we didnt really.
Although I have never really cared much for Liverpool I am genuinely interested in how all this pans out for them and I kind of hope it does work out for the better! I also like Carrol, I dont think he is £35m but I still think he is quality regardless of what everyone else on here thinks.
Quite possibly re TH14 ( ) comparisson, as an outsider looking in, my view at the time was that he had too much influence around your place and it became the Henry show (will he go, won't he etc) and as much as he was one of the best strikers the league has ever seen he needed to go to make your players function as a team again. I don't think Torres was quite that influential around our team, mainly because of Gerrard and Carra's presence (but that's another story all together) but I still think the overall effect of him leaving on the (majority of) team will be positive in a similar way.
Suarez turned 24 last week, he's a bit of a stroppy bugger as far as I can tell and Carroll is obviously no angel but I think it could work out with those too, just have a feeling that Suarez will be able to feed off Carroll's hold up play etc. Carroll in particular was a rediculous price but we had little option other than to see the season out with no 'proper' CF and if this season is a write off then it'll still be useful to give them a bit of head start on next season by giving them games together.
I hope we do well too Jamie I don't mind arsenal too much either apart from the constant shout of 'hoof' from the fans

ok he scores a goal on average every 121 minutes, faster than any other player to play in the premier league.
Dalglish, Fowler and Owen averaged a goal every 2 games for Liverpool but you wouldn't spend £50 million on them either
Stats are wonderful things.
would you pay 500k for a 2 bed house? no? becuase you're poor like me. but if you were Mr. Abramovich then you laugh and pull the 500k out your pocket.
So £50m in real money is a lot, in Chelski money is nothing
What?
Have you been hitting the drink hard recently?
keep up paul.
50million is fuck all to chelsea

I'm still undecided Russ
If we don't find someone to replace his goals, end up getting dragged down the table and relegated then we lose £40m
If we stay up and continue to do alright we've got a great deal

I feel a bit sorry for Newcastle fans, it's pretty obvious what him leaving was all about. In saying that I reckon you'll be alright this season and if he spends some of that money to replace him you should be ok/better off yourselves next season.

I still think all the Liverpool fans would be screaming for Roy Hodgson to go if this had happened under his reign.
Poor Roy!

Fucking right they would. I don't care what anyone says, £35m for Carroll is worse than any player Man City have been raped for.

Two words: Joleon Lescott
Boo hoo for Hodgson, couldn't GAF about the rediculous old owl. He gets enough love from the media to more than balance out what he didn't end up getting from us.
BTW Tommy, you are now in the same bracket as Russ, perpetuating out of date stereotypes wins you no points in my book. If you were from (anywhere near) newcastle you'd be getting more of this type of thing from me (same to Conway563)
At least we can find clothes that fit/afford clothes etc.
