They've certainly got that rep in the UK, I guess because the most successful (I guess) model is the Impreza. In the US it seems like the "normal" cars are much more popular - I see Legacy's here like I see insignias and mondeos and 3series back home.

Between building rally cars you mean?

IT, primarily infrastructure design/implementation type stuff until now. This is more of a management role though.

Swapped the Jetta out for this, which will by my ride until I come home in summer

Got a V6 of some description in it, pulls really well when it figures out what gear it wants to be in.

It's an Escape... apparently

It's an absolute beast, quite nice inside... needs a clean though.

Those particular wheels won't be the right fitment, but I'm sure some exist somewhere.

The modded Scoobies over here are very similar to the VAG "scene" back home, all mega slammed on stupidly big BBS etc, and they all go spoiler-less too which looks odd

What's the going rate for a 2001-ish turbo wagon? Just got one, not sure what to do with it.

Bit of an update.

I'd been talking to a guy on Scoobynet before I came to the US, and he'd been working on a side-project for a bit. He'd got hold of some JDM (HID) Headlights and was working on a wiring convertor for a UK car. He also did the detango/black surround mod I did to mine ages ago. He was then making noises about returning his car stock, and selling the lights - so I jumped all over them.

These arrived at home a few weeks ago, not sure what they're like in the flesh - but my lenses are scratched to hell so hoping they're better than those.

Next up, look what FINALLY arrived!

They look sexy as hell, and from what I can tell from here - they're actually right for my car!

I'll be back on the 25th July for four days before off to Florida on holiday - so I'm planning to drop my car and suspension off at an alignment place for fitting/alignment while I'm away, then can collect the car and maybe do a cheeky trackday in the four days I get between Florida and returning to the US for work.

Those lights look like your standard lights though? Why would the crazy japs not put projector lenses in xenon lights?

I've seen some Blobeye lights with projectors but only aftermarket kits I think. I've learned from Jambo that I don't have he time or energy for a project like that

I believe Subaru fitted projectors from the Hawkeye onwards.

So you may as well have gone with a HID kit than buying these ones? There will be little to no difference in them I'd of thought.

My friend took the car for an MOT today, so I could use it when I'm back for a few days at the end of July. Car passed with flying colours, but the battery was toast from being sat for so long waiting for tax.

My friend had the RAC jump it for him on the morning of the MOT, and drove it to the garage with no issues. Mentioned the battery to the garage, then went off to work.

At somepoint during the day, the garage attached a charger to the battery... which subsequently failed, and went up in flames

I've ended up with a slightly melted headlight lens, and some spots of melting bumper plastic. Fucking hell
