Cheers mate, will have to take that offer up one day!
Got my dye through today. Will probably start it on monday as its far too hot and I need to clear the garage out. It is rather bright though!

Interesting to hear that Furniture Clinic say their dyes will work on Fabric. Be interested to see how you get on with this!
What do you seal it in with? Can you use Renovo or any other reproofer with this stuff?

Like the other stuff I used, it'll go darker once applied as it soaks into the fabric.
Rich. Hoping to proof it with renovo. It's all an experiment though, could go wrong

Today could well be the day (depending how long it takes to remove the old dye).

Made a start and gave up. It's going to take ages to remove and I can't be bothered today.

You what?
jamie, don't fancy getting thinners on my paintwork. White spirit is bad enough.
Steve, don't trust myself with bleach. After it had dried, I could see the white spirit had worked. It just needs longer than 10 minutes of scrubbing to remove. It was just far too hot today to stand in the sun doing that.

Started it at the weekend and the old stuff would hardly budge. Had another go earlier today and it's still resisting.
Need to get it done before saturday, but I can't see it happening.

Cant you remove the roof fabric so you dont endanger the paintwork?

Not easily, no. It's all stitched on. Theres also 3 layers to it.
Paintwork is fine, I just have to keep hosing the car down every 5 minutes to make sure nothing settles on it.

What are you on about gav?
Had a look at the roof earlier and now it's dry I can see a lot of the dye has actually come off. I reckpn it should be completely removed after another couple of rounds tomorrow, and also dyed again if I have time.

I was looking back through your thread for when you lowered it and saw the red brakes. It made me laugh

Pulled my finger out of my arse and got messy with the dye.
Imo it's not going to work. After the first coat (50:50 dye, penetrating solution), the dye seemed to penetrate too much. The 2nd coat has about an 80:20 mix and seems to take to the fabric a lot better, although it's still wet so may die down.
I may even need to give it another few coats, but I don't have enough dye, so will need to order more if it turns out ok.
took a couple of quick pics:
It's still a work in progress.
