Just managed to catch up with this thread. The worlds gone fucking mad, Andy Carroll more expensive than David villa, a world cup proven player.

He certainly has potential but that price is ridiculous.

I agree with what someone posted above, any deal city have done is not as bad as that one.

Hernandez was a bit of a bargain IMO

Not baiting, but I really wouldn't be happy with Carroll replacing Torres (When both are fit obviously) I can't comment on the other guy.

I hope Torres gets more injury proce at Chelsea too

Out of interest if you were a LFC fan, who would you have realistically been happy with as a replacement given the short timescales to replace?

As I say, i'm extremely excited about Suarez he looks like he can deal with alot pressure.

And I bet a lot of LFC fans wouldn't of been happy if you said this is what is happening at the start of the window.

Carroll is no where near Torres level (when at his best) and maybe never will be. He's just an old school centre forward. He will score goals for Liverpool and when he's not scoring he will be in the build up. He just offers a bit more off the ball than Torres imo

It's ok because Kenny Dalglish is in charge so it doesn't matter that they paid vastly over the odds for him.

Exactly Tom, he will chase up more when he hasn't got it and is better in the air. I've heard his first touch is good but needs more work though. I wouldn't have swapped them no way, but i'm quite hopeful him and saurez can form a bit of an understanding. We still need a winger though.

His first touch is very good, never seen a problem there for him!

You would be going mad mate if Roy Hodgson was still the boss and you'd sold Torres and bought Carroll for this money. That's what I find funny.

Roy wanted to buy Carlton Cole. The fact that I never, ever, trusted his judgement is the reason why I wouldn't have been happy with him making any big decisions. Carroll was massively over priced, I agree with that but the fact Torres wanted to leave meant we had to replace him quickly or rely on Saurez or Ngog to lead the line. If Kenny/Comolli think Carroll is what we need that's fine, I trust their judgement. Kenny has a proven track record of winning things, Hodgson did not.
