So 30 miles each way is 300 miles a week.

In your car, that about £45 a week on fuel, but in Nath's, it would be about £35.

Therefore you'll save £40 a month on fuel. It's not a massive amount, just make sure that before you change it, that the servicing/tax/insurance etc all adds up too - it's all well and good getting something that'll save you £480 a year on fuel, but insurance and servicing can easily eat that up!

Also be aware that diesels can have much highe repair bills - the clutch goes in your Corsa, you're probably looking at £300 to sort it.

If the clutch goes in my Fabia, it's proably more like £700-800 to sort.

Don't mean to put a downer on it mate, but just make sure you think carefully before you change it!

it's about 240 miles with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. The way I look at it, a diesel might cost me more to run, so i'd possibly be looking at a small engined petrol, possibly a new one on hp. I do miss my old diesel and I love how they drive.

tbh I don't need the power, the only time I use it really is on a spirited drive, rest of the time I tend to take my time, you can't go fast much with all the bloody traffic lights round here I'd be interested in a polo with the 1.2 tfsi lump, don't think they do one though

Congratulations Alun Golf it is then!

Be aware though, if you get the PD130 engine - I get an average of about 44 MPG, so not much more than a petrol model.

Don't know mate, I've got the Fabia Mk1, with the 1.9 PD130 TDI engine. Goes pretty well though, very comfortable and just a lot more grown up than my Corsa was

Golf maybe it is then, I'd probably opt for the 110 or something tbh, mind you a GTi is tempting... except I can't afford the insurance
Not sure what to do, I know a nice 10yr old moon miles golf will last well but fancy something nearly new... we'll see!
Thank you Nath, ummm Station Support Officer, will get me out and about a bit
