Fuck, I'd be wanting atleast 850 with the rig you've got. You could get a decent one for £60, or something from Corsair for £90

That was the problem I was always had in the summer, my dad would ask me to leave my PC on all night while he downloaded stuff on eMule but it was massively overclocked and ran at full speed all night so it was absolutely boiling in my room
Never dared venture into mixing water with my PC, then got into consoles so didnt take it any further

quote: The Battlefield 3 Open Multiplayer Beta test is almost upon us. You may already know what to expect if you were already in on the alpha, but incase you weren’t, or if you were in the alpha and had no idea what you were doing, I have a few hot tips for you:
Install Origin: This may seem obvious, but before any highly anticipated release
it’s a good idea to make sure that 1.) you have the (Origin) client installed and updated, and 2.) you have it configured to login automatically in the event Origin’s authentication servers crash. Most likely we will be getting beta invitations as an Origin product key in an email and you’ll want to make sure your Origin client is squared away first. If you already have it installed, make sure you login and let it update. There was an update last week and there will most likely be another one before the beta launches. Get it at: http://www.origin.com/download
Plan for the new control mappings: BF3 has additional key commands that didn’t exist in Bad Company 2 and in some cases Battlefield 2. For instance, while scoping downrange you will need to hold the sprint key (left shift by default) to hold your breath and steady your aim. “T” is for flashlight/laser sight (if attached) to blind your enemies, “V” for rate of fire switch on the weapons that support it such as the M16A3, and “Z” is to go prone. Picking up kits was holding “R” down, while “E” remains for activating MCOMs. If you have a preferred BC2 or BF2 setup that uses any of these keys, you may want to reconsider your keyboard assignments. Also, the alpha had no means of remapping those controls so if you’re dead set to keep your existing config in the beta, you might want to plan for a 3rd party application to remap your keybinds.
Going Prone: – As I mentioned previously you can go prone with a press of the “Z” key. While going prone, if you’re armed with an LMG don’t press anything during the animation and your soldier will setup deploy the weapon’s bipod. This greatly steadies the weapon during firing. Just as in other games with prone you can reposition yourself with the WASD keys and press “Space” to stand up or “Ctrl” to raise to a kneeling position. However, you cannot throw grenades from this position. Also, you’re a sitting duck if you get flanked. The prone animation is smooth but not too slow, nor is it so fast to allow the dolphin diving/shooting that plagued BF2.
Classes: – For a good breakdown of the soldier classes, visit the battleblog article on the subject or : http://www.bf3media.com/2011/07/08/class-breakdown-battleblog-2/
Maps: Operation Metro –
Caspian Border Study these maps. Most likely only
Operation Metro will be in the beta. Much of it is in underground Metro tunnels too, but study it anyway as the match can be won or lost in the first park phase.
Jets: – Since jets are back it’s time to bust out those dusty old flight sticks and
recall all the intricacies of jet piloting. If you recall in BF2 they were typically armed with 2 bombs and a Gatling gun. After a bombing run you could be reloaded by returning to the nearest runway and flying over it at low speeds. Sometimes it took 2 passes to reload. New to the Battlefield series will be air-to-air and air-to-ground (anti-armor) specializations. You will be able to choose between a loadout with either missiles or bombs. The jets will be the F/A 18 Super Hornet, the A10 Thunderbolt II, the Su-35, and the Su-39. For good pics and descriptions, visit: http://bf3blog.com/battlefield-3-jets/
Regenerating Armor:
(2)– A new feature to the series is that heavy armor,
when out of enemy fire, will regenerate light damage over time just like soldier health. This will allow tank drivers without an engineer have a chance to stay in the vehicle longer and eliminates the urge to abandon it behind enemy lines with 25% health. This feature will have the side effect of punishinh engineers who expect to run out into the open and fire an anti-tank rocket, respawn, and return to finish the tank off.
Suppression: – While under suppressive fire, that is sustained enemy fire coming
in your general direction, the screen color will desaturate and you will get tunnel vision. You will also be able to see the barrage of fire as a blur effect above you to let you know that it is unsafe to leave cover. Health regeneration also stops while being suppressed and accuracy is decreased. There is a suppression point bonus if someone kills a target while it is being suppressed.
Vehicle Specializations: – Be sure to review the new vehicle specializations there are about 30 of them and I suspect that we will be unlocking them quickly so you know what to roll with when you jump in the tanks/jets/helos, etc. All Links Via: Battlefield Wiki:

Other Stuff:
PC setup: If you could run BC2 pretty well, you’ll have no problem with BF3. Don’t worry about it too much. One of the key points of the Frostbite 2 engine is scalability.
Beta date: Nobody knows. Sometime in September. The closed beta will be 48 hours before the open beta starts. You need to have pre-ordered BF3 Limited Edition as a digital download only (no disc mailed to you), or you need to have pre-ordered Medal of Honor: Limited Edition last year. Confirmed that the disc is not required to play.

* You cannot use explosives or shoot at the M-COM to take it out. Only arm and disarm.
* If the attacking team arms the M-COM but runs out of tickets, the match will continue until the M-COM detonates or defenders disarm it
* If the defenders start disarming an M-COM just before it’s about to blow, the explosion is prevented until the disarm is accomplished. If the defender gets killed during the disarm process, the M-COM will instantly blow
Excellent
Hate it when people were using anti tank mines to destroy the m-coms. Like the idea of still being able to disarm it while its very close to blowing too
Like the sound of all of that I want something done about spawn raping though.
