Exactly
Wish I had the money right now as I'd go have a look at that black one on Ebay, thats pretty much what I want excluding the wheels it has on it

My coupe was a 2.2, which I was insuring for 1200.
Convertible was 2000 then 1100 when I turned 25, now 890 ish.
1800 is going to feel very slow indeed compared to the Corsa.
Compromise might be a 2.2 convertible.

This one is up at 9 in the trader. There's also a few at less money which you would need to do something with the wheels straight away.

Mine has had a roof pump replaced due to it blowing the fuse a number of times. Its also had mechanical bits which probably would have failed on a coupe had it have lived with me

I'm looking more around the 6-7K mark
It'll feel slow in comparison to the 2.0 Corsa, but don't forget my daily driver is only a 1.4 8v
2.2 would be nice, but I dont think I can afford it. I'd rather get a 1.8 for a year or two & then look at the Turbo ones if I fancy something faster

Alternatively, as I did, buy the turbo in the first place and keep it for years and years
If you're buying both cars from a dealer and part-ex'ing the 1.8, you'll lose enough to make it the same price. Plus if you buy the turbo first, you own a turbo

Reckon you should go for the turbo. They seem to have come down in price over last few months, can pick up a decent one for about 5-6k.
I payed 6400 for mine, 35k fvsh, europa blue full leather etc.....great car, decent power yet still returns 30-40 mpg......
Toying with the idea of cs1 remap for 240bhp ish but undecided

If you're going to buy a coupe, it's got to be the turbo really!
I test drove the 2.2 and the 2.0T, I drove the turbo first, and cut the test drive on the 2.2 short after about 2mins, because my mind was already made up!

2.2 is mechanically far more advanced than the 2.0T, no cambelt just a chain so will never need a major service which was one of the deciding factors for me getting the 2.2 over the 1.8

The 2.2 engine is also a lot smoother and delivers the power very cleanly, its just not as powerful.

lubractation doesnt stop stretching and getting loose over time, mate had a 5 series beemer with a chain timing system, and it got rattley as fook.
Like everything there are pros and cons, if it were perfect everyone would use it

The 2.2 needs about another 15bhp to make it just a little more nippy in 3rd gear, I find it to be very flat and lifeless but comes alive again on the motorway at around 80mph.
