Monster, i wouldnt say you have to spend 1000's to make it as quick etc, but you would need a good 130 bhp and a bit of strippage to BEAT one i think.

And before people bring my quarter mile into when i got a 15.9...

My 15.9 was at 88 mph

Monsters 15.8 was at 85mph, kind of proves the weather was shite.

standard vts's are good for mid 15's i should know because iv done it.

15.9 doesnt mean anything on the same day i got 15.3, 15.6 16.0 and 16.1

i couldve had the one run come away with 16.1 and though well thats as fast as it is then

Yeah i know steve, but im just saying my terminal shows that with better weather and being able to get traction i would be around mid 15s.

Im sure Craig will challenge any 1.6 sport even yours Dave.

The difference of brakes on the wifes VTS and my GTI are massive, hers are completly standard (including ABS) and I have brembo discs, greenstuff pads and goodridge hoses all round and when I drive mine hard and then jump into hers and do the same it scares me how sh!te the standard items are

I had the 2ltr 16v set up on the corsa and they were total Wank as well tons of brake fade and they never felt safe even once the discs and pads were replaced

Ive noticed that alot of debates in the post are about modded corsas against bog standard 106gtis/saxo vts's, hardly fair is it

Ive just thread it through again....

"all a corsa needs is good brakes and suspension to keep up with a saxo vts"

Who are you trying to kid

You get a standard corsa sport thats stripped to the bones with good brakes and suspension and ill happily annihilate you

Im all for Corsa's, love the things but i dont get why people kid them selves and like eck said, all these threads about STANDARD vts/gti's against stripped and well modded corsa's

Thats probably because the fella asked what it would take to make a corsa as fast as his GTi

I can agree with that TBH. But due to my experiances with saxo VTS's (I've had a play with a good 5 of them) Cought a few, very slighty, and on par with a 52 plate one.

Raced one 106 GTi, with a full system, inc. manifold, boost valve and viper air, running 140bhp (his words, not mine) and, granted, he did pull from me, but only due to being 20bhp up on standard. Would love to race a standard one Steve

My VTS brakes where shocking compared to the cars ability, was down right scary at times, made you wonder if citroen ever tested the brakes lol, miss the VTS at times was a great car but had so many problems it had to go. When it was running right it was very quick, a lot quicker than my mates VTS. I would also go as far as saying its quicker than the 206 GTi I have now, it used to pull hard to the redline every gear, my mates just never seemed to have the same urgency about it

I've read this whole thread and not once has anyone actually bothered to look up the weight differences. Everybody is going on the (incorrect) opinion of one person pmsl.

Corsa GSI : 960kgs

http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=1947&Opel

106 GTi : 925kgs

http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=100738&Peugeot

P.S The wheel base difference is 5.8cm.

106 is 910, i had my one on a weigh bridge, i also said i only think the corsa sport is 980.

didnt the corsasports come with aircon n stuff which would make them weigh more than a gsi?
