Personally, if i had the time i would maybe go to that much detail, even if it was twice a year.

I'm far from loaded and spending 20k on an astra would be a lot of money for me, loose out straight away i know!

But for the amount of time it takaes say a few times a year to give it the dogs once over then i would. I could leave it and when i come to sell there is tar and scrathes all over it, obviously the value of the car wont be as much.

So for the amount of time i spend polishing my motor and giving it a clean, doesnt bother me. Its an epensive purchase so i'd want to keep it nice.

I'd go as far as washing and polishing a car....

like most things you get the typical average joe who does the bare minimal... then you have a small few who take the task and not only make the task a full time job but a an obsession.... a life style!

I wont knock anyone who does this... there are many examples of so called "over the top obsessions"

Average Joe: Leaves car as stanrdard

Car enthuthiast: May add some styling, engine tuning and an audio system to enhance the car to met their needs and preference.

Die-hard in their area of expertise: Usually at this stage the enthuthiast starts to focus in one area whether that will be tuning, styling, audio.. etc and more recently detailing!

I wont knock anyone who becomes an expert in their chosen area as we (the general public/average enthuthiast) will be the ones admiring the work at car shows in the summer

im all for spending a day cleaning the car etc but just seems a bit of a waste something like that

Nice car. If he loves polishing the fook out of it then

It's his car, if he's happy then all good.

I personally couldn't be arsed to polish and clean my car like that. Mine gets a wash every 2 weeks if its lucky (as in when I can be arsed )

Just washed it today. could hardly see the rear numberplate or rear lights

i wouldnt go as far as to slate the guy, but hes obviously got too much time on his hands to go to that extent on his car. but its his car not mine. i know when ive spent about four hours cleaning mine, using clay bar kits, 3 stage wax and poilshes i even thought that was quite sad.

id love to see his face the next day when it rains or a bird shits on the roof

Barmy or not, I still think the attention to detail utilised in this project is fantastic and well worth it. I bet the VXR owner sleeps all the more soundly at night for their efforts.

That said, i'd love to see what these gents would make of my Peugeot. It's about 7 shades of red, most of which are matt.

Must have spent a fortune doing all that, & I still dont understand why the wheels were removed at the start even after reading it 4 times. I think i'd be scared to drive it after all that!

Reminds me I need to pick my car up from the pub car park I abandoned it in last night & give it a quick jet wash
