Update
Started to clean up the inlet side of things. very easy to do, when you've got access to a parafin wash, a large chemical cleaning washing machine type thing and a bench top wire wheel!
ICV before
and after
cleaned inlet plenum (inside too )
and shiny throttle body, can see all the nice CAD plating on the linkages aswell

Update
got the engine on the stand, lifted it easily with 3 people
then just took a few bits off to start the cleaning off
hawkins came round to 'help' aswell!
taking the thing that the dipstick goes in to work tomorrow to clean it up
also got hold of a mk2 astra haynes manual with all the C20XE info in for £2

i don't know about shafts as its my mate that always use's them but you always get motorsport shafts on ebay

u2u me the info over again if you would phil, any info on rebores and over sized pistons, gudgen pins...crank regrinds etc also
todays work time task:
polished up my rocker cover to sump oil pipey thing
also poilshed up that block (top right) that was attached to the bottom of my block,
i've no idea what it is called, or even what it does (as with most of the bits so far) but it's shiney now at least
