Is the G3 hard to work with mate? Mine is shiney red, but you can see it still isn't the colour it should be!

Its a bit of a pain because you have to use water with it and its quite a hardcore compound thats why i'm using it, as BMW clear coat is very hard. I don't know how hard vauxhall's is but as long as you don't go mental with it, it should be fine. There are some youtube vids to show you how to use it.

What does it look like swirl wise after being G3'd, it's harsh stuff.

Will be hologrammed and micro marred to fcuk - guaranteed. Needs refining.

Correct, thats why I will be using the SRP after as Its slightly mechanically abrasive and a filler, so should make the usual swirls dissapear at least for a good while. Not totally fussed about swirling as nearly every car on the planet will have it and will be impossible to stop it, if it ever gets washed. As long as its bright red and shiney its all good.

Would be better off refining it with G10 or 3M ultrafina if you can get your hands on it mate

SRP isn't as good at actually polishing; at the end of the day it's a basic polish designed predominantly to be used by hand by a noobie - it'll provide adequate "shine" and a bit of protection to their paintwork but it's essentially just hiding the defects rather than actually removing them.
UF for example is designed specifically to be used on a finishing pad on a rotary to remove hologrammes and micro marring, and does remove them rather than fill them / hide them.
Hope that sort of makes sense?

Well some arse must have reversed into my drivers side wing and put a big dent in it, so I did a 460 mile round trip to get a new one the same colour and decided to get a new bonnet, passenger side wing and boot lid with M3/sport spoiler instead of my "aerodynamic package" one because they are all better condition and from the same guy.
Not a scrap of rust or anything behind there...
Then I 3M Ultrafina'd the bonnet. Brilliant polish indeed, can't see any swirl marks by eye. There are a few scratches etc if you shine a bright light at it and look very closely but doesn't show up in the sun, which is the main thing. Need to do the rest of the car.
New boot lid and spoiler, with high level brake light which I wired into the left brake light, so I've got 4 brake lights now. Not sure if I should pull the bulb from the rear screen one.

Actually I will leave the bulb as I found out you can get some e36's with the 4 brake lights from the factory.
Also the swirl marks are still there just a bit better than before I need something more hard core than ultrafina but not as hard core as 3G.

Started de-rusting my rear arches...
Forgot to get finished pics will take a pic when I CBA.
Also fitted front droplinks as they were totally ruined.
Rubber coming out of bracket and could be pushed out with a finger
New ones fitted, what a massive difference they make, the steering is MUCH better, much more precise.

Just needs G3 polished to take off over spray/ blend in paint and shine it up.
I also sprayed the small panel below the bootlid and rear lights, maybe get a pic of that too, I must have saved thousands of pounds by doing it myself , i'm pretty good now TBH.

Had to put a new suspension front top mount on as one of the 3 bolts that hold it on seems to have had the thread ruined, wouldn't tighten or loosen.
Had to drill the mother out
Also the new top mount bearing had load of grit in it and wasn't greased so washed it out and greased it.
yo.
Also got some more shit to put on, just to tighten the rear up a bit.
New - rear Eibach springs (still -30mm) - top mounts - rear drop links - dampers.
I had to get the springs "special ordered" from the germans and got the new ones with grinded ends to stop them snapping again (yes my old rear eibachs only lasted 6k miles odd, both of them).
flat ends.
shit round ends on the old ones.
!

Got some more shit from BMW today...
2x rear ARB drop link brackets
2x nuts for drop link brackets
1x rear bump stop
1x rocker cover screw cap
2x airbox nuts
2x door card screw caps
2x rear vent window trims
2x rear vent windows seals
So fitted the boring nuts/ caps that were annoying me and then fitted the new window seals...
Before, pretty ruined....
During, window out...
After, much better.
Also got some powerflex rear trailing arm bushes...
Which I will fit at some point as the back end isn't feeling like I want it.
