good spot, civics handle like golfs.
Sorry what? What Golf? The EP3 CTR is a brilliant handling car, the Mk4 Golf isn't.
I haven't driven a new CTR so can't comment but it's not going to be hard to be as good as the Mk6 GTi so that advert is still a shit load of fuck.
i hva e driven the new cTR and it doesnt handle all that well, infact iirc clarkson tested the new vs the old type r and the new one was worse than the old
its alot slower too

nothing that honda sells over here new will keep up with the competition. the only thing worthy is perhaps an FD2, but you'd have to import one from japan. a 2007/8 model will go for 18-20k second hand over here so lord knows what a new one is. supposedly 60 in less than 6 seconds, independent rear suspension (unlike the UK's torsion bar)
honda also reckon its quicker on track than a DC5, the UK type r wouldn't catch a cold on track

not like the BMW 323i then
care to explain
the 323i was quite cleverly marketed
[Edited on 22-09-2009 by whitter45]
easy, it was a market gap filler. filled the gap between the 2.0 and the 2.5, this was backed up by the 323 having a 2.5 when they had the 328 out, and the M3.
The 323i is the new 325i when the 323i came out the 325i production was ended.
But the 328i was supposed to be 230bhp odd but for german insurance reasons it was limited to 193bhp which the 325i was the same, but if the 323i was 193bhp as well, there would be no point, so it was de-tuned also, so not entirely a market filler.

Not sure that helps at all.

No matter what anybody in this thread thinks of VW, as I said pages ago, just like apple.
Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, or even if it kills children, it's extremely good marketing and it sells.

Plus, it goes to show that pretentiousness isn't only associated with the VAG crowd, even their marketing department are twats too. There are shit loads of 16v cars about, so they can fuck off with their 'yeah, it's a 16v just like a Golf attitude'.

yes i am aware of that! would like to know what makes them awful though
dull, boring to drive, very unrealiable, most of them have crap engines apart from the TFSI's
tfsis would be mk5 if i am correct

and the reasons an r32 costs more than a vxr is basicly vw is a better brand than vauxhall, no brand snobbery as i only paid 5k for mine and ojc obviously paid a lot more for his.
reason id pic an r32 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC9urhtFGmo

ojc's is much newer than yours though? so how does that argument work ?
iirc his is an 08 reg. if you were to buy an 08 reg golf gti when he did (brand new i think), it would cost a hell of a lot more to get a car with the same equipment from vw.

Anyway, why are people getting excited by the frankly terrible v5 ,and v6 golfs, I've driven all the mk4 and mk5 variotions over the years, and there all quite average
why do you believe the V5 is terrible?
not quick
love a piston ring or a bottom end
terrble mpg, all in a fwd heavy car

its better in terms of prestigue, in real life between the mk5 (1k) and the astra h i couldnt see anything that made either a better car
