My new alarm turned up yesterday. Have gone for a Toad A850 with the dual zone proximity sensor, tilt sensor and the extra siren.

Went for this alarm as it does everything i want of an alarm. Didn't need an immobiliser as the car already has one as standard.

Just working my way through all the wires and locating the wires in the loom I need before jumping in and doing it!

Would like to thank MR_TOAD off Migweb for supplying the alarm. I searched through ebay for the extra siren and the tilt sensor.

Got a new set of alloys for the car!

Got a set of Astra H SRI 17" 5 spokes like these

Sent them in to be refurbished. Getting them done in a graphite colour. Also ordered a set of the new style badges to go on them!

Should have them back on Monday, So will get them fitted as soon as I can and get some pics!

Finished off the smoothing out of the boot push button/lock. Painted and fitted it today.

Took the boot badge off to fit a new shape one on. Didn't like it when it was fitted as I could still see the holes slightly so have ordered a new badge for the boot.

Also have fitted the new rear brake calipers as there was no handbreak at all. Just need some new disks and pads all around!

Whilst I was fettling, I decided to remove the amp from under the parcel shelf as it weighed a tonne! Stuck this in the side where the first aid kit goes until I decide on a boot build!

Things left to do are:

  • Fit the new wheels once they arrive back from the Refurb place
  • Fit the alarm to it (Toad A850) should be done for next weekend!
  • Sort out a boot build of some description!
  • Find and fit a new bonnet, As the old one is rotten

Just had a weigh up of how much I have spent on the car so far. Including buying it I have spent £1895. After selling the old parts it works out at around £1300!

Not too bad I think!

Got the 17's off an Astra H SRI. Should have them back middle of the week!

Got someone coming to fit the alarm next week. Tried to have a go myself but was put off by the amount of wires that need to be cut! Plus I went for a few extras aswell on top of the standard alarm (Extra siren, Tilt sensor and dual zone proximity sensor)

Was tempted to completely debadge it but i think it looks a little too bare. Plus would be a bit of a pain to do (After welding the holes up and respraying the whole boot!)

I think you can get a phone lead adaptor that connects to the rear speakers, Just need a remote from the headunit!

Picking the wheels up tomorrow (Finally after nearly 3 weeks!), Just fitting together the subs and amp in the box to be fitted at the weekend!

Been having a long think over what to do with the car. Decided that once the wheels, Subs and amp is fitted I will be calling it a day with it. Will enjoy it for a few months as it is then strip it of what I can and sell. Give up on modyfying cars to this extent now. Will just be small simple touches on the next one!

Seems a shame to strip. Would you sell it as it is. If so what kinda price would you want for it?

Unsure weather to though. Could make most of my money back either way (As I got the car cheap in the first place as it needed work) But I think it would sell better if it was as near to standard as possable.

Unsure how much it is worth as it is, Seen a few standard ones in similar condition for anound £1300-£1500.

Heres a sneak preview of the new rims, Just awaiting the centre caps and a bit of a dry day and there going on!

Already gave them a couple of coats of Poorboys wheel sealant, Will give them a couple more before they do go on!

They are done in gunmetal grey, But somehow look silver in the pics!

Fitted the subs and did this to one of them!

The noise it made was qiute, well funny

I just got them because they where cheap. Herd some good things about them. Just got one in a single box now and seems to do the job.

Currently looking for either a set of JBL ones or some cerwin vega ones. Got my eye on a planet audio big bang a mate has for sale in a custom made box. Just havn't got the money to spare for it at the minute!

Finally got round to fitting the new wheels to the car. Should hopefully have some new badges for the centrecaps on the other side later on (There isn't any on there yet!)

Also fitted an aeriel off a 2010 vw polo. (Didn't take ant pics of it as was rushing, Can probably see it in the pic is you look closely!)

Thats the outside all finished now. Just got a couple of little niggly bits to it and i'm finished

What do you all think!

More pics of the new wheels.

Still awaiting the centre cap badges for this side, Will be put on as soon as they turn up!

Also one of the 2010 VW Polo aeriel i got. Fits perfect and another bonus, No radio reception is lost. Exactly what I wanted!

I have also got hold of a SRI-T steering wheel and a set of Vectra CDX Sunvisors (Ones with the mirrors and lights in). Will fit them as soon as they turn up!

Jobs left to do are

*Fit the centre cap badges on the passenger side
*Fit the above new purchases
*Actually fit the Toad alarm I got. Not been able to find anyone willing to do it for me!
*Replace the rusty bonnet
*Sort out a bit of surface rust on the rear drivers wheel arch (catching it before it becomes a big problem)
*Get a new passenger side headlight as the adjusters have broke in them. Needs to be done by MOT time!
*Replace the centre section of the exhaust with a cybox stainless as the old one is blowing a bit!
*Swap the rear drivers side brake caliper as it doesn't seem to work. Was a new recon part so is still under warranty!
*Touch up a few little marks (You can hardly see them but they are annoying me!)
*When the weather warms up, Go mad and give the car a really good detailling ready for the show season!

Had to order a new set of tyres, Went for a set of 215 40 17's as the 225 45 17's scrubbed like mad.

Also had to get another new rear caliper as one didn't work. Just have to return the old one and get them swapped over. Will also fit the new disks at the same time!

Another set of badges turned up and are now fitted to the centre caps and on the wheels, Just need to swap the tyres over and i'm sorted!

Think it'll look a lot better with smaller tyres - these just look too chunky atm.

Come a long way from the start though!
