okay, now pissed off. just found out an acquintance that i haven't seen in about a year has been getting pretty badly abused by her boyfriend
first of all he deleted her facebook account, took her phone off her, stopped her seeing her friends etc. one day they were driving in her car when she waved at somebody she knew and he slammed her head into the window. apparently spits in her face, punches/kicks her. then last week he really beat her up, which culminated in him stabbing her in the leg with a key she left him last week (finally) she was at the pub last week with us but i never knew anything about all of this. but now she is back with him again, worried isn't the word

yes she is a fucking moron for getting back with him, god knows why. she told 2 of her old close friends last week, coincidentally i'm fairly close to one of them who told me. her parents didn't have a clue until the close friends told them, the police aren't aware yet but no doubt they will be very soon

Police won't get involved andy unless she makes the call and prosecutes. Which i'm sure she won't, unfortunately.

do they not have special domestic abuse people that deal with this kind of thing? i know in the end it'll come down to that, but surely they'll go and talk to her if her parents phone it in. she's obviously not thinking very rationally

The best they will do is send a PC round to talk to her, but they may not even do that. They can't do a lot if she isn't willing to press charges. Which is shame.
Unfortunately you can't say anything to someone involved in domestic violence as they won't listen. Unfortunatly they are blinded by "love", and i use that term loosely. She won't want to see him get in trouble.
