Reason? because apple own the trade marks on the names.

Yeah, but if you register one before the product is released then you might have a leg to stand on

so an ipad won't be 300 quid, far from it, it'll more likely to be £500 for the bottom end.

If you use a similarly priced item, say the Mac Mini @ $599, that is £510 here.

Largely they have a huge market up price on their products and that's how they've always done it. I really can't see it being a cheap product when it gets over here.

exactly, you would have to of registered them before apple registered the trade marks on the names, and knowing Apple they'll of done that years and years ago.

It wont be cheap, I agree on that - it'll be between the iPhone and the Macbook, which is exactly what I said before.

It makes sense, as it fills that price range which they currently done offer products at.

multi tasking is the biggest issue, they didnt say it wouldnt do it, but then they never said it would.

Im certain flash will be on it by the time its released in 60 days.

No Cosmo...

Apple have given up on Flash...
Basically they're hoping everyone moves to HTML 5. Youtube too are moving away from flash and to HTML 5 based youtube players.

I'm extremely doubtful iphone / ipad will ever have flash.

But this is all software restrictions, something they can build in at any time.
And if you jailbreak, you can multitask like you can with the iphone.

I thought HTML5 was still quite a way off yet?

Imo, without flash its pretty useless as a browsing device. On the iphone you can get by, but on a device meant to replace your netbook its not good enough without.

This is it. It could have be such an amazing product if it did half of these things, you could have done some seriously cool stuff (does it even have a camera? didn't see it being listed) - like multi-gesture desktop (ie: http://bumptop.com - really worth a look at).

to be honest, i'll happily purchase one when someone manages to get OSX installed (could be interesting with the A4 chip. Anyone know what it's based on? Arm?) atleast then you'll be able to do some niffy things.

Wouldn't you think multitasking would be something Apple would want to publicise as soon as possible though?

They arent going to do all that at once, they'll use those sorts of tech over the next 2yrs to keep updating and selling more and more of these.

At a guess I bet they could some amazing things you hadnt even thought of with it, and probably have versions with those things working in the labs, but just not releasing them yet.

And why should the end user have to 'fix' it to get something that is pretty much standard on any smart* device It's like the iPhone, it should really have come with something like >Element<.

Because they are obviously trying to move people away from using Flash to other formats, if they just added it on as standard then no one is going to be motivated to not use it.
