So what's James going to say to his young'uns? I remember.... Urrmm......
i remember when..........
we finished 5th in the premier leage
a fans favorite and manager arry gets the sack for taking bungs
replaced by a coach who only got the job as arry felt sorry for him, finish 7th, loving it
get relegated, coach has a stroke
legend brooking nearly keeps us up
we were unbeaten at home for a season
we signed a bloke that pushed a ref over, and he became a ledgend
di canio scouring infront of 9k away supporters and knocking united out of the fa cup
we produced half the england team
we were 30 seconds away from winning the best fa cup final ever
we signed some argies, and it all kicked off
we get taken over by a man who made his billions through biscuits, and go on a mini chelsea spending spree
we stayed up on the last day of the season beating manchested united, after overcomming a 10 point deficit with 10 games left and sending down the shitest northern team ever known
the little argie hero scored
we get the biggest fine in prem history
our millionair goes bankcrupt, our sponsors goes bust, we have to survive on loans from a sponsor
we are saved from extinsion with days left to spare
and thats just chapter one of my book
How many Premier League trophies?

The history you've listed isn't all that though is it, you seem proud that, the coach had a stroke when you got relagated, you signed a bloke that pushed over a ref, you get the biggest fine in premiership history and a manager gets the sack for taking bungs???

I like the fact that finishing 5th is something deemed worthy of remembering and telling the Grandchildren

what happens when you support a club that has some family history and also the local club to where you are born, not just choosing to support a team that win stuff and therefore choose to have the easy life at school or work i.e the easy way out

Don't go slagging off Di Canio, he was brilliant!
I think Jr is trying to say, for a club with the expecations of West Ham, finishing 5th was a pretty big thing!
They're not a title challenging side, and to be fair, he did say that it's not that great, but it's an interesting modern history!

I've supported Man United since before they start cleaning up all the trophies. Dad is from there. So that puts the kibosh on that theory

yep because i dont get told that bit, was just stating all the people who come out with the same line must have started beeing a supporter at 2-4 years old, where in reality (espically down this way) they saw that if you support a big team you dont get loads of shit when your at school/work etc and therefore its an easy option
hence why im proud to support who i do, even if we dont have a load of trophies to show for it

no managment expirence with a demoralised team and our best player been left out of the sqaud by the manager, much more expirenced managers have done far worse with better circumstances

what im saying is we have been through far more as a club and fans than your lot, or anyone in the leage imo and are still there, and still plodding along

I quite like the West Ham away shirt
Still don't like paying £40 for a shirt, so normally just get them at the end of the season anyway

I went through a lot in the 2006-07 season:
I missed the train home
Burger King closed early
The vender at the station had run out of Peanut Chunky Kit-Kats
I got squashed on the Metro
I had to stand most of the way home on the train
Was a tough season.

If I was supporting my towns team it'd be Grange FC & basically I could turn up & play there if I felt inclined to. My brother does not a professional team.
