Absolutely no idea, whatever turns up in good condition that takes my fancy.

Don't think so, the box is away, I've got the xenons off that i'm keeping incase they fit whatever I get next and the auto dimming mirror.

Mirror will be going on ebay probably, I've also got the rain sensor but it's the wrong one for the astra, that's about all I done to it I think.

First guy that offered me enough for it on ebay, I wanted more than I'd have offered it to somebody on here for so stuck it on ebay,

Still the best place though, just need to watch and some go for under 100 quid.

Watched a few and they've gone well over £100. I'm watching a few standard upper grilles which I should get for less than £45.

I really want a astra 150xp for my next car, as you know john.

Only thing putting me off is the issues it has with swirl flaps, egr valve ect.

as i wont be buying one under warranty i wouldnt of thought, bit over my price range.

Im tempted to go for the 1.8 petrol or the 1.7 diesel, though they are not really what i want and i really dont want to be going in my local posty to pay £150 tax every 6 months for the 1.8, rip off tax IMO

I paid £100 for mine off AON, put a wanted post on and loads of people replied saying you'll never get one that cheap, within the day i had one for £100.

Since sold it on eBay for £135.

Mine had new Swirl Flaps and an EGR and needed a new gearbox.

My mates is under warrenty 58 plate, hes had 3 EGR Valves and his gearbox replaced under warranty. His flywheel has just started rattleing too.

The things that go wrong with them are too expensive not to have warranty.

Mines been absolutely faultless apart from an air con pump, every model of car will have its common faults. The 1.8's are absolutely gutless and dont compare to the diesels in any way if you ask me.

Can see us just keeping ours till its dead, you have to spend money on cars at some point so who cares if it breaks once in a while.

Swirl flaps etc, buy a good car, if you don't know enough to pick a good one it's probably better getting it under warranty.

I took the EGR off mine at 16k for a look, absolutely spotless, go on AON though and there's horror stories of them blowing the car up after 2k.

Best advice is don't believe everything you read on forums, yes EGR's and swirl flaps can fail, no they aren't a major problem anywhere outside the forum, it's the same as cambelts on cliosport.

I wouldn't buy one that's had a replaced gearbox, it's had a hard life, 99% of the time gearboxes don't just fail.

Agreed but bearing in mind that most cars 'common problems' don't generally cost £500-£1000+ each to replace, they are usually leaky sunroofs or dodgy window motors etc.

My Swirl flaps and gearbox were perfectly fine when i bought it and no i didnt drive it like an idiot.

This isn't really true, they are a problem in the real world too. Working in a garage we get alot coming back with the same faults. But maybe the customers have the internet, I don't know their usernames though.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen Joe, if you read AON it happens to every single one of them though.

Thing is you only ever hear a story about a car if its a bad one. THe other thousands of diesel owners on the road wont post up telling everyone there car hasn't broken down.

My air con pump was supposedly the first one the garage I went to had seen however a search when I came home made it look like every owner has had one go.

Joys of the internet!

Drive a diesel straight after and you will see what I mean. I had a 1.8 as a demo and it was so boring, no torque or get up and go about it. Fuel economy was disgraceful on them aswell, my sister has had one for the last 2 years that I sold her and she struggles to get more than 28mpg. The diesels are so much more car for the money. Bigger brakes aswell from what I've read..
