To be fair though, that would be a better system that the ads in most apps which chuck you out the app and load a random page.
I've often accidently clicked one and then lost whatever I was doing.

It's in-app advertising. The idea is that free apps can remain free and that Apple get money from them. Ads wont just pop up from nowhere.
