deano, you are a nice bloke, but christ fuck, you are one boring sod at times
that's not too bad for a 1.4 16v but my puma does that driving normally. 35mpg if pushing it.

Fair enough.
I'm not boring all I'm saying is that I bought the 1.4 16v Punto because it achieved, according to the book, 47mpg. This meant it would cost me exactly the same to run as my 12v. Great when I was on the minimum wage.
But it only gets 40mpg average, so costs me a bit more to run.
That's all I meant ffs

i didnt realise rach wanted to lanch starts at the traffic lights
who cares, its not THAT slow, now a 1.2 8v corsa is slow
prob about the same as a 1.4 16v corsa d, so its quicker than a 1.0 which are dangerous and a 1.2
it will drive at 70mph happy and return 65mpg, so what its not a rapid, if you was that bothered get it remaped and be far from slow

That's what I drove Warren, it was truely awful. Quite a long test drive as well, power delivery was laggy and boost came on for a very short time indeed.
1.4 16v will be adequate, get it Thursday.

God help you when you get anything remotely quick, I'd love to see 40 mpg out of the Volvo or the 106 but it will never happen, although I'm not arsed as I'd rather have a smile on my face than be bored with them.
40mpg is very good.

It's not when you can have a quicker version of the same car and achieve better fuel consumption i.e. the 1.9 Mjet Punto.
But DannyB, your cars are your hobby. Cars aren't my hobby and merely a way of getting A to B, much like Rach's car. But I do like nice cars.
If I want anything quicker it'll be a derv.

True, hence why I went for the 1.4 16v. But it cost more to run than my 12v so was a shock. And back to square one

The lads on Corsa D are trying to convince themselves it's a fantastic engine, maybe so for consumption but driving it is awful.
