If you got shocking GCSEs then they wouldn't take you on even if you wanted to.

I'm not sure I want the job. The pay is shit and they kind of tricked us into becoming home installers (rather than proper engineers)

Just as well. I got 5 A-C's, thats what most jobs require in my experience. Its too easy to lie about GCSE's anyway.

You'd of got in with those 5 (that's all they wanted). Oh, and they required all the certificates to catch people lying.

it's a shit job, but it's still a job.

I don't want to take it but I really have no idea what to do. I would like to go to uni but I need to pay my mortgage.

At my hub day they said the initial priority was the home installing hence the 15 weeks training, but over the 3 years will be trained up like all other engineers, just in a different order.

I think what they're saying is, at the end of the 3 years your just a 'home installer' rather than an actual 'engineer'.

That's not how it sounded to me really, although I get that there will be a lot of home installing initially.

nice one... good to hear.

and from the people saying its a shite job id like to see them find a better one with no experiance in that role during these hard times.
as for home engineer lol theyre called managed installs and everyone will need to know how to them including myself so thats no biggy and its not just a case of being in a home and plugging in, just a slightly different role. £40k a year is achievable if overtime is done once qualified.

also getting into the company is the hard part - manyways to progress if you dislike your role

Thanks a lot lads. Cheers john for pointing it out in the first place. In the interview I was interogating them on development prospects, I think this a good move, currently a Team Leader at Tesco, it's absolute shite!

as a result I spent Yr11 fucking about non stop with my mates, we still talk and laugh about it these days in the pub

I loved that last year at school, I was quite popular, surrounded by 15 and 16 yr old birds in skirts, I had a scooter so I could go where I wanted and I managed on 15 quid a week!

I only got one C grade and that was english lol

Mostly that reason and also because I felt misled by them.
They just want Infinity installers and that's not for me.

I'm gonna keep looking for something that I'll enjoy more, or take over my dad's company.
