I'll probably leave the ignition till then too, it'll be easier without the dash and it's not enough of a worry yet, it'll be good to keep it progressing like I did with the 1.2 rather than just do everything at once, spreads the work out too, don't forget there's still a truck there that needs finishing

Mmm, maybe not then

I'm liking that box of wire that isn't in the car anymore

Can't wait to have a drive of it

Both the Corsas I've owned have had scotch locks, none were down to me tho

Box is overflowing now.

I've left it for tonight as I was hungry and cold

Next job is trace all that back to the fuse box. Between the wire and all the connectors there's probably a kg but the main thing is it'll look tidier without masses of wire and connectors bundled up.

You might need to learn the Highway Code arm signals and install a squeezy clown horn but it should still start

I've done more since I posted that as well. Fuse box only has about 10 fuses left.

There's also a bit more can come out of the bay looms.

Next big-ish jobs are draining the coolant and removing the heater box for while we're welding/painting, tidying up the multi-plugs and all the loose stuff, then waiting for the cage to be made.

Last time I spoke to them expected completion on the cage was tomorrow, not heard anything yet but I've got my fingers firmly crossed then it's just down to this money issue, really becoming a concern now once the cage is paid for, I can't actually afford any of the other big stuff atm, ie. paint, tyres, towing test

See if you can scrape enough together for welding wire and bacon and mushroom sandwiches for Ste and at least that's your cage labour sorted

Bearing in mind there's five weekends available between now and Combe, including the Chester night out and the Edinburgh night out which although I'm not attending, you are, my cage fitter is currently in Egypt, I don't know timescales for Ian with regards to painting. It's more those that are causing concern, the parts that are out of my hands because they're both big jobs that are holding up a lot of the other jobs.

Other bits to add to that list although not actually for the car are,

Get my eyes tested and sorted (not working properly ) which will be needed for the next point
Towing test
Get a tow bar sorted for the van

On the plus side, after our conversations yesterday, I've now got a document from the Department for Transport which should at worst, give me a strong argument in court if it was to happen but basically says that as long as the MAM of the trailer, the MAM of the tow vehicle and the GTWs aren't exceeded, you're all good, even if the MAMs combined are more than the GTW

Want the glass out to fit the cage after Ste cracked his windscreen when welding his cage in, plus it's needs to be out for paint to make things easier and cheaper. Running wise it should just need the exhaust and lambda sensor fitting, it was fine when Tom was using it upto August

Well you can just remove the windscreen? TBH fitting plastic windows is quite easy if a kit is purchased. Abit harder when you are dealing with B&Q supplies - Lee fitted my cage without smashing the screen to bits and that was with tagging it to the a pillas too. Just try to keep some main objectives on the todo list and concentrate on them, when you start going ooh could do with bigger brakes and ooh could do with this (such as polybushes) you can really delay the main objective. And in a way its more fun to drive it with less things done and add bits between track sessions as you can really feel the improvements.

This is how I see it regarding why jobs need doing or what could be left for a later date

Strip loom (already started so needs finishing)
Remove heater matrix (for paint)
Remove windows inc. boot (for paint, less masking = less cost and money's tight)
Remove side strip glue (for paint)
Sound proofing on T Tunnel (for paint)
Weld up holes in rear arches (to make good before paint)
Prep for paint (well you get the idea)
Seat mounts (for seating)
Roll cage (because it's what we've been prepping for)
Paint (as above)
Lambda sensor (to get running)
Fit exhaust (to get running)
Refit heater matrix (could be left if we join the hoses together)
Refit dash (could be left)
Fit seats (needed)
Fit polycarbs (needed due to lack of windows)
Fit bumpers (needed)
Fit arches (needed)
Fit bootlid (needed)
Remove PAS and replace with EPS rack (I wouldn't like it but if needed could be left)
Fit polybushed bottom arms (could be left but a 10 minute job)
Fit brakes (currently has no fronts)
Fit suspension (currently has no rear springs)
Rear beam polybushes (could be left)
Tracking (depends on rack change)
Oil change (It's been sat since August)
Brake fluid change (needs bleeding anyway due to lack of front brakes)
Tyres (could be left but not a big job anyway, cost is more likely to be the issue there)
Fit lights (needed)
Fit shortshift (could be left)
Speed tape holes (don't want leaks)
WR stickers (not overly important)

So that's 7 of that list but none of which are massive jobs so they'd more likely come down to whether or not we actually have the time after all the other jobs have been done

All the little bits on that list like the polybushes and that is what came off the black Corsa so it was more not wanting it to be lesser spec than my old car was but as said, that'll just come down to time available after the important stuff is done

Strip loom (already started so needs finishing) pretty much done, just needs either ends sealing off with tape or tracing back a bit more. Can still be tied up for welding/paint
Remove heater matrix (for paint) drop coolant first but not a big job
Remove windows inc. boot (for paint, less masking = less cost and money's tight) this worrys me a bit
Remove side strip glue (for paint) needs toffee wheel
Sound proofing on T Tunnel (for paint) easy when access is good
Weld up holes in rear arches (to make good before paint) not necessary before paint, can be patched in later as it's not an exterior grade panel
Prep for paint (well you get the idea) big job, needs machine sanding and lots of care
Seat mounts (for seating) Ste will box those off same time as the cage
Roll cage (because it's what we've been prepping for) ditto once Ste is back on it
Paint (as above) ready when the car is, Ian will turn it round fairly quickly but there's no point appointing him until we're ready
Lambda sensor (to get running) bolt in and wire up or is there more to it?
Fit exhaust (to get running) parts in stock just needs doing, perhaps a few gaskets, few quid
Refit heater matrix (could be left if we join the hoses together) short cutting the hoses would be quicker, do you want a heater
Refit dash (could be left) not a big job
Fit seats (needed) not a big job
Fit polycarbs (needed due to lack of windows) fronts not a big job, got templates to cut, if you get the go ahead off Ste to use that stuff we have in stock then they can be cut ready to go
Fit bumpers (needed) not a big job
Fit arches (needed) not a big job
Fit bootlid (needed) not a big job
Remove PAS and replace with EPS rack (I wouldn't like it but if needed could be left) big ish job but we still have the rack off the 12, that could be done now, GTE rack and ARO column
Fit polybushed bottom arms (could be left but a 10 minute job) not a big job
Fit brakes (currently has no fronts) not a big job
Fit suspension (currently has no rear springs) not a big job
Rear beam polybushes (could be left) not a big job
Tracking (depends on rack change) not a big job
Oil change (It's been sat since August) not a big job
Brake fluid change (needs bleeding anyway due to lack of front brakes) not a big job / doing it anyway
Tyres (could be left but not a big job anyway, cost is more likely to be the issue there) buy some or just use the Comps
Fit lights (needed) not a big job
Fit shortshift (could be left) not necessary
Speed tape holes (don't want leaks) not a big job
WR stickers (not overly important) big job but not massive and we do have smaller decals if it gets too late

Best thing would be to work out who we need there and when, ie. me, Ste, shops needing to be open etc.

There are a few there which we can pick to do firstly while Ste is still away, mostly mechanical stuff which I can get on to this week.

Loom stuff I would prefer you there to make decisions on what is needed.

Welding obviously we need to wait for. Other bodywork we don't.

I'm working late tomorrow but other than that I can be there every night after that and all next weekend. If we can each do a few nights and a few weekends it's very much possible.

I've got a few off but Ste isn't doing either Edin or Chester to my knowledge so you might get him.

I'm sure there are other people who would also chip in up there if you take a key. I'll fire the Vegga off back around the back as that isn't high priority and there will be room to work again, then it's just a case of what can be done without waiting for other things.

Non assisted rack being one of the first although that could also be put aside. Not insurmountable with a plan and even if you can't be there, if you say this thing by this date I'll go up and do it, just need to have some direction.

Right I'll try and come up with a bit of a plan of action rather than our, right what shall we do today approach.

Might be worth having a ring around try and see whether getting a pro on the windows was possible, if not too costly, might try that tomorrow.

Tyres wise I think using the Comps is the sensible choice atm, then I've got time to get a bit more money together to get my track wheels powdercoated before putting tyres on them.

Heater I'm just trying to think about now. Adam and Fee seem to get on alright and a coat in winter is still gonna be lighter than a heater matrix full of coolant so may shortcut that one.

If I had a night up there on my own I could probably get all the brakes, suspension and fluid changes done because I'd just crack on with it.

I'm likely to be on a job in Birkdale till about 6ish on Tuesday so as long as that's all ok I could probably head straight to the garage from there, get some food and then crack on with the loom. The problem I usually have is by the time I've got home and had some food, I don't wanna go out again but if I was to head up straight from work I'd be more likely to just crack on with stuff and if I go with an aim I'll just keep grafting so I can get home sooner.

I'm sure as it starts progressing again the motivation will come back too, it's gone now. After not touching it for 3-4 weeks it's just become a problem.
