what was that gp thing they bought out?

thats the one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3_yBroEer0

whats the deal with these gps then - do they have any upgrades to seats or brakes? Were there any other special minis ever made with the charger - wasnt there a two seater version or something?

Why are there not other hatches with superchargers on the market?

still miss the digital speedo too - so much better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yme0x5dyZ7A

The gp only has two seats, don't think they have anymore power than the jcw but are lighter. I'd guess few other cars are supercharged for the same reason mini have gone down the turbo route, fuel consumption.

Yeh GP's had 210bhp, early JCW's had 200bhp, later JCW's had 210.

GP's had a better intercooler, and there was only 500 in the UK or something iirc, hold their value well - I know somebody selling one if you're interested

Is my Autosmart Rep who's also a trader, car is mega tidy.

Sorry.

It's near the Witterings in Sussex, I've seen it myself as he always shows me the cars he's got in when I go down, and he knows I have a Cooper S.

It's mint, if I could afford it, I'd have already bought it

They're rare, and some have already been stacked, so as far as I see it, it'll only hold value or go up in the future!

Can someone explain to me the pulley reduction thing?

I take it when they say 15% smaller pulley they mean it's 15% smaller than the standard pulley? And 17% is even smaller? Ya?

Seems the way to go is the 15% pulley with Dave F airbox, new belt and a set of plugs. No map is needed.

Yeh from what I can gather that's what it means, I think the general concensus is 15% is best for normal road use with minimal other mods - 17% can make it a bit of a pain to drive on a day to day basis apparently.

Mine's a 11% reduced being a JCW I've been told and I already have the different spark plugs too, so can't comment on the difference it makes!

No map needed though no, seems to be false economy with very little gain until you stick a cam and bigger injectors into the mix.

A mate had a Cooper S a couple of years back - thought it was standard, stuck it on the RR and it came back as 202bhp - bit of snooping found a map and 15% pulley, so quite big gains can be had with little spend.

I'd personally go for a GRS - just fitted mine, but not the diffuser part yet as I need a new scoop first.

I just read through Mini torque they feel the GP cooler is better for the money.

I'd like to keep it as standard looking as possible.

That airbox, was it easy to fit? Do you want to give me a hand

No he isn't, he loves it. I think he would draw the line at noisy exhausts but standard one is quite noisy as it is.

Depends if you're going brand new or not, I got a GRS second hand that had been used for 7k miles for £290 - I'd never buy one brand new as I'm too tight

Airbox was easy to fit tbh yeh, they make a big thing of cutting the hole, but it was easy - took about 20 mins all in iirc.

Next mod for me will be brakes I think, and that can start getting expensive

New GP cooler is something like £330 quid?

Yeah brakes are wank, I think some 5.1 and some decent pads are in order at some point.

For now I'll do the 15% pulley and the airbox and leave it at that, cooler maybe in the summer or something.

Hi there

It needs more power badly.

Some twat on the M25 on Saturday was up my arse in a JCW cab and was egging me on (I was in the VXR), I moved over dropped to 4th and left it for dead it was a joke

I would like a go against a VXR. I dropped one of those latest ugly Subaru WRX (admittedly the least powerful one - wouldn't stand a chance against an STI) quite easily the other morning on the way to work.
