he doesnt. iPhone 5 has a rumoured September launch, to tie in with the iPod refresh, other rumours saying that it's November.
iOS 5 will come out when it's good and ready
that was my point. i still reckon the next iphone will be out in june/july same as the last 4. rumours of a september release will suit apple as people will keep buying iphone 4's for 2 months rather than waiting for the next one
Apple have already said WWDC will be software based this year. Like you say that could just be to keep people buying 4's.
I still stand by a September release, the delay being mostly due to lost sales on the White iP4 if they released next month and due to still needing to find a way to fit the A5 chip (twice the size as the A4) into the already packed iP4 design.

im not sure that it would be lost sales though on the white ip4. all it is is a new color for an existing product for which sales have probably slowed at this time of year.
then they'll probably carry on selling the white 4 alongside the 5 anyway

With a dual core chip, 1mb ram and 8mp camera in September they will be over 6 months late to the market with that spec but everyone knows apple aren't the first at anything, they just reinvent existing tech so I cant see that being an issue.
At the end of the day its all speculation and i'd welcome a 4S next month, even though I cant think of an instance where the iP4 would need to be faster/more powerful as everything is already instant.

1mb memory
speculation or not, iOS5 may be announced at the start of next month, but it wont be available straight away, and the next iphone 4s/5 wont be out in July

They should do limited edition colours, imo. Or something like design your own case.

I know. The point i'm getting at is that sales of the white iPhone 4 will slow if they release the next one in June whereas if people know its September they won't wait 6 months.

People don't know, the speculation is what drives the interest in the product.
so you're willing to bet 56p that it comes out in July? i'm gonna be minted

I want to be able to go in and charge things to my iTunes account rather than having to have them mess around with their modified iPhones and EFT terminals

Would be good and easily implementable for them, I'm sure they've thought of it, but not been done because it's too open to fraud I would imagine.

its the secretive way theyre goin about it with special boxes and passworded files and stuff
"Additional sources have let us know that stores have received some boxes today that are only to be opened by the store’s visual manager. The sources speculate that these boxes are for new store or window display"

They are changing the shop experience - thus Apple Store 2.0 is the title its been given, all staff having iPad for doing all the jobs they need to. Obviously change in stores in some shape.
With the amount of people who share confidential data I am no way at all suprised that they password protected the files with all the info etc.
Other companies look at Apple and how they do things and how they sell because whether people like the products or not they do it very very well. Giving away proposed changes would be stupid.

But that's Apple 101 of marketing, they've always done this as it generates hype/rumours and in turn increases sales. Look at the iTunes Beatles release, biggest load of guff going but i bet they made a killing on iTunes that day

Record companies have seen an increase in sales for the first time in 10 years or something stupid following Beatles launch
