Well it's finaly happened........................

Had a spare couple of hours and thought why not gives me chance to get the inside de sound deaden and cut out and clean up prior to cage and seat fitting

Amazing how much weight was in there tbh, forgot how heavy the calibra leather arm chairs weighed msl:

Also found £4.70 in loose change, so who says modifying doesn't pay

Well finished all inlets and manifolds so turned my attention back to the car agian, I've been stock piling parts ready for the winter update

EPAS steering rack and DS2500 rear pads

Enlarged Cav V6 throttle bodie (64-70mm)

I'm swapping the above as the 3.5" throttle bodie i have offers very little throttle control which isn't ideal for feathering the throttle on track and strip

Also bought some carbon door cards about a year ago when i bought the windows so decided now that i had stripped the interior to fit them

My new seat for driving into the workshop, absolute nightmare to drive msl:

Before:

After:

Decided to keep the frame work around the handle as it helps retain some stiffness in the door

All the non essential stuff removed amazing how much weight tbh

Then self tappered the door card on and fitted the window, have kept the trim and seal for a non poverty look, gonna get the trim flocked when the dash is done

mmmmm carbon :love2:

Outside look, like the fact it's light smoke tinted polycarbs

Just need to come up with a way of locking the slider for a bit of added security, and i'll do the other side when i next get a spare couple of hours

Got the car back in the workshop and cut the other door out

And fitted door card

Then set about trying to get the dreaded tar off the floor, tried soaking it in petrol, worked a bit softening it slightly but wouldn't recommend, such a wierd feeling pouring petrol into your pride and joy msl:

Went back to the old trusted method of heat gun and scraper, managed to get it up in about an hour and a half, as I managed to find the perfect temp it likes to be heated too so came up it big bits Worst part was over the tunnel under the dash as it was a different tar with what looked like bin bags stuck to it. Just need to wipe it down with some thinners to clean it up.

Also trial fitted the drivers seat

I've decided I'm not happy with where the standard location is and want to start from scratch so will remove the front seat supports totally by drilling out there spot welds, I'm also going to remove the section behind that which goes up and over the tunnel by the handbrake as that will be in the way as well, reason being if you push a bucket with side mount as far over as the standard set up allows it doesn't allow you to sit perfectly in front of the steering wheel and I don't want to move the steering colloum as that then has a knock on effect with the trim etc

Don't worry that's going when the cage goes in as I'll join the turrets as part of it

Tonight's efforts were to get the standard seat mounts out to allow me extra space to sit the seats perfect, after what felt like a lifetime drilling out spot welds it now looks like this

Also drilled out the rear seat mounts as well

Plus side I've shifted 10kg of weight but down side I slipped with the drill and punctured one of my 888's  Will get that repaired next week

Drilled through the wheel well and into top edge of tyre ;-(

The rear seat mounts were easy tbh if you go upto a 8.5mm drill bit they come straight off, the fronts on the other hand were a nightmare as they had spot welds that you couldn't see or feel ;-(

Cheers Sri boy, I love the challenge of making stuff and I'm a welder and fabricator by trade in the marines (Metalsmith) so get paid to make stuff as I don't get a lot of military work now we've got the new vehicles ;-)

Got the white spirts out and removed remaining tar and gave it a good clean out before having the rubbish job of having to weld up all the drilled out spot weld holes, seemed to take forever

Then decided while I had the welder out to seam weld inside

I then cut out a load of discs and removed the rubber bungs in the floor and welded them up as well and ground all welds back to floor level

Almost done with the floor now just need to cut out a few small patches of rust around the rear seat floor mount, must be a water trap so while I'm at it I'll fully cut that out and patch it up

Bought myself a epas colloum and another rack came as a package so will keep rack as a spare as my original one is better but I will swap the steering rods over as they are practically new

I meant machining the discs, one false move and you've got a major wobble on.
