Looks a bit early learning centre with the numbers. Just totally not my taste

With a car, price reflects so many factors that affect the user like speed, comfort, extras etc.
But an expensive watch doesn't give the user anything more than a £5 watch does, it tells the time in exactly the same way
[Edited on 16-02-2012 by James]
that was my point, just worded poorly, i was purely saying with a watch the added expense is purely down to the name imo as it tells the time and thats it, there arent many things that can be changed to make it tell the time any differently, where as cars are totally different.

Your point is incorrect.
Some you pay for the name, others you are paying for the engineering and materials that go into it.
Saying watches are all the same then using cars as a comparison is miles off as well, cars drive from one place to another, that's it.

That's not the point I'm making. I'm not saying it's just down to name, I'm just saying the benefits that the owner sees from an expensive watch compare to a cheap aren't the same as in the car scenario.
I appreciate that a more expensive watch will be built to a higher standard though.

If the expensive watches were crap why do all the cheapo brands copy their styling?!
My next purchase will be a 1986 (birth year) Rolex GMT Pepsi Bezel. A timeless classic!

That is smart as fuck might treat myself to one of those.
Problem with expensive watches is the servicing too. My Rolex GMTII is gonna cost me £300 to service soon. Seeing as its valued at £7500 though it an investment. I don't tend to wear it much but feels very special when I do.
Good job it was a gift must admit the quality of it blows pretty much every watch ive seen out the water inc the likes of Omega and Breitling.

I got it after it was discontinued, took quite a bit of work to find a brand new one.
Had never seen a regulator before and loved it.

They look like watches that children learn to read the time with.

Where do the elite horologists of CS stand on Jacobs? Ignoring the image are they purely garish bling or is there sound watchmaking underneath?

J&C watches are a joke.. The only thing of any value are the diamonds they seem to cover them in.
I've not seen on with a mechanical movement most seem to be quartz and for some reason they like to fit three or four movements to one watch?

I think you've missed my joke. I realise DKNY isn't elite enough for this thread.
Tbh I couldn't GAF anyway. It tells the time, feels good quality and looks good (IMO). I've had it 6 years too and its still perfect. So its spot on imo. And only cost about £250.
