Ill be in that category. I live right across from the sea but there is no sand, just 100% rocks and water.

Are you being silly now?
I'll break it down step by step, no pun intended.
You wear shoes on the street which picks up gravel. You drive down the road in your shoes thus dropping stray gravel in the footwell. You then randomly decide to drive your car with no shoes. Your left foot rests in the footwell with the gravel. You have to break and lift your foot up to do so. There is now gravel in between the pedal and your foot. It hurts. You pull back as a natural reaction. You go into the back of the car in front. The end.

Vertical pedals, I never put my feet whether they're in shoes or not, flat on the carpet as one is always covering the clutch or on the footrest and the other is on the accelerator or brake so I'll break it down for you-when would there be a stone between your pedal and foot? Are you and John the same person? Do you argue for arguing's sake? Again everything you're saying is conjecture and there is no evidence to back up your argument.my evidence is having drive thousands upon thousands of miles barefoot and never come close to an incident

Do you drive about in shorts so folk can see your tattooed thigh mate?
Just as much as you carry about the quotes and artwork that hang on your walls mate

I argue for arguing sake quite regularly, on this occasion though I'm genuinely dumbfounded that so many people do it.

I have arguments all over the place, normally when I see abject stupidity, Hammer would have a hard time keeping up.
I actually steered clear of how stupid that tattoo looked because I didn't have anything good to say about it as well.

so you think its stupid john, but its not dangerous. do you agree?

It's stupid because it's dangerous. Shoes offer your feet protection.
Really easy to get your bare foot caught on the mechanics of the pedals without all the rubbish that ends up on the floor.

What in god's name are you talking about? If you were even slightly likely to get your foot caught, then people would get their laces caught all the time. Stop talking waffle and give some accurate arguments

Appropriate footwear, if your laces can get caught on something then you don't have appropriate footwear on.

Oh shut up John, every argument you've given has been invalid and up to now you still haven't provided any evidence to back up your opinions

The arguments are pretty simple and pretty obvious, if you don't agree it's dangerous that's fine.
I'll continue driving happily in my shoes and you can continue walking about barefoot like somebody who doesn't have appropriate footwear.

there are no laces on bare feet. appropriate footwear could easily be no footwear. wtf are you actually gonna get a foot caught on ffs? just making this up now john as you can't accept being wrong tbh.
john = wrong. thread closed.

So effectively people should only drive in slip ons or velcros?

How is a bare foot more likely to get caught on something in the footwell than a foot in a shoe/boot/trainer?
I think you are better off sticking to the comfort argument, at least there is some basis of fact there.

It's much easier for your foot to get caught on something, hurting you and causing you to lose control.
You don't have as much control or grip.
You look like a pillock.
3 valid reasons.

I also forgot it was Anty that posted the thread, if I originally drove barefoot I would be on Google right now buying new driving shoes.

1. not really, no difference to a shoe getting caught. even an appropriate footwear type of shoe.
2. yeah you do. your foot presses the pedal. your foot isn't slippy, as its skin, that will grip the pedal just fine.
3. nobody looks at what footwear people drive in so no. just no.
3 non valid reason.
